Houma and Thibodaux came in at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, on the list. New Orleans landed the top spot.

Residents and officials of Houma and Thibodaux said they're not surprised to see their hometowns proclaimed as being among the state's most exciting and desirable places to live.

“Thibodaux takes pride in offering its residents a quality of life that everyone enjoys,” Thibodaux Mayor Tommy Eschete said. “From the recreation and entertainment we have to the restaurants, we attribute all of those things to ranking highly.”

“People move to Houma because of our great economy and our low unemployment,” said Kelly Gustafson, Houma Area Convention & Visitors Bureau communications manager. “Then once they get here, they get the lagniappe of all of the great activities available in the area.”
