Hey dads/moms...my little boy started probably 4 months back seeing things he says. He has an awesome imagination at an early age and says things sometimes I think are for attention but lately he has been terrified by what he says h sees. Today it was a bear in his room. He was shaking like a leaf and would not go back in there. He did it at my dads in his outdoor kitchen. Again it was a bear. He got between me and the bear. Shaking. My 4 year old girl imagines as well and it is vivid also bit never to this length. Any reason to worry? He has woken up frightened yelling me me before again with the same imaginations. Thanks for any legitimate responses.

I'm close with two nephews. They're probably just intelligent.

He is reincarnated. Died from a bear attack in his previous life.

I probably go to a child psychiatrist. Not fricking around, I'm serious.

Do you now or at one point in the past had an actual bear living In the house?

Show him where the key is for the gun cabinet and tell him you want a nice rug next time he sees that damn bear.

Tell him if he doesn't eat his dinner you are going to get the bear.

Its normal.. kids imagine a lot of different things that make no sense. Try getting him a stuffed animal and tell him it will protect him from the bear.. worked with my daughter when she was little

Does giving him a big hug help calm him down? Like a really BIG hug.
ETA: on a serious note, your wife is fricking a bear. Sorry bro.

dont worry about the kid, you need to call billy the exterminator

Maybe it's because you say he is 26 months old instead of two years

At least it's not the fricking clowns I saw at that age.
I hate clowns to this day.

Never heard of this sort of thing before. Not at that age and being that afraid of it.

Probably normal for a child. I remember as a kid my mind working overtime to make more out of a strange shape, shadow, or noise than was actually there. It's something to keep on eye on, though--especially if the behavior escalates or he has trouble differentiating reality from non-reality.

Serious question Has he seen the movie Brave? The bear the mom turned into scared my 2 year old son when he first saw it he's 3 now it doesn't bother him. He has never imagined anything like that.

You might want to curb the TV they are watching or books you are reading to them.
At that age, children have a hard time delineating between reality and fantasy. So whatever they see that you and I would perceive as fantasy maybe reality to them. Take it easy on the intense stuff.

Him saying he sees a bear is kind of normal for a kid his age.
What perturbs me is the his reaction to it. It seems too real to him.
