Would you rather be a king in the 17th century or 1st world middle class today

Seems most people would be quick to say king but there's a lot one would miss out on. You'd live a pretty kush lifestyle but lose out on modern medicine, technology etc.. Then the whole people trying to kill you thing.

I wouldn't even have to think twice, I'd be middle class today.
I mean I'm already middle class and I have the freedom and ability to do a lot of cool shite. Also it's not really my personality type to be a king. I would hate to have that much power and be responsible over so many people.
Plus, and perhaps teh biggest thing, there would be no college football so life would suck hard.

OT middle class probably about 250k /year collectively if I had to wager a conservative guess.
