This. It's incredible what it is right now. It's practically a step above the 17th century king IMO.

Not true. No antibiotics so a cut could potentially kill you. No plumbing so no matter how powerful you are...you are using a chamberpot/outhouse/whatever instead of a real toilet.

Like someone else mentioned....no real dentist or pain meds. So get an abcessed tooth and you are in for some serious pain(and again...no antibiotics so if your infection from the tooth goes to your brain...you are dead)

You would need to have a taster for everything you ate/drank to make sure you are not being poisoned.

No a/c. EVER. Imagine the hottest, stickiest days in summer and having to wear all the clothes they wore and deal with the heat with no a/c at all.

All of you guys talking about all the women you would bang....think about the personal hygiene then. Women didn't shave back then..so hair...everywhere. And of course...stds as well.

I would hand pick all of my women from the virgins in my land.

There was soap and water, so I would ensure my women were clean.

And I'm pretty sure as King, I could ensure that they would be shaved, unless sharpness of steel had not yet been invented?

So basically...

Modern medicine, indoor plumbing, electricity, etc

Means nothing to you as long as you can bang all the women you want?

Well any women asked the question in the OP(except as a ruling queen without a king) would say no.

Women, even queens, were treated like shite back then. Not to mention, if I had a king and had children that the chances of childbirth killing me were pretty damn high.

Also....no tampons no thank you.

Look, I'm not roaming around rubbing elbows with the peasants, so I won't be exposed to all the stupid sickness you keep bringing up.

Indoor plumbing? I'll dump in a gold pot on a bed of rose petals, and get one of my service people to carry it out and bury it in the woods. No different than flushing it now.

Electricity? I'm King. I'll have humans produce whatever power I need. I'll dress however I want. My kingdom will be in a low humid area.

Now....tell me again about how they had no razors back then and women couldn't shave their coochies or bathe?

The plague doesn't distinguish between pauper and royalty.

You have several servants in your castle, many of them peasants.....there is your exposure.

Who cares? The OP is directed at Kings. Go make you a queen OP where you and the rest of the women can belly ache about how horrible men were back then. Let us enjoy our Kingdoms.

Bullsh*t. My castle is built real high in the air and above all the sickness and plague. And any peasants I let in have been sanitized with alcohol or something.

They basically used cotton rags. Like sanitary pads.

And queens were confined right before they gave birth for several weeks. They thought the outside air was bad for baby. So you were locked up in a room, all windows closed up. Your husband(king) or any other man could not enter your confinement chambers. A priest could, but only behind a screened area. You had to stay in confinement until after the baby was born. You couldn't even be present for the christening of your baby many times.

It's called books. You should try them sometime.

Actually...confinement was big in the 1500s(think Henry VIII times)...not sure of 17th century.

I would decree that you be my personal nurse, and force you to roam my castle naked, but for the elk pelts tied with leather straps covering your feet.

Even today, any time you break the skin you are at risk of infection. Without treatment this can result in gangrene and/or death. The bugs that do this are on everyone's arms naturally. Of course, we don't worry so much now b/c of modern antibiotics (although we might worry again soon).
