I want to hang a 40" tv in my waiting room and it won't be against the wall. It will be hanging out from a beam. What should I get?

Flat, tilting, and articulating. Then you have weight ratings.

if its just a flat or tilt mount, just get one that can support the weight with ease. if its an articulating, you get what you pay for

I guess I overpaid for what I got... I paid $68 with 2 day shipping. I won't lose any sleep over the lost $5.

Here is a comparable unit from your monoprice:

I just have trouble rationalizing hanging a $2k TV on a bargain basement mount. I've had great luck with the Sanus mounts.

not even close. i bet you had to search to find one that cost anythign close to your amazon price.

there's about 6 models for $40 on monoprice that do all the articulating and the reviews (as yet) are not bullshite like amazon.

define 'bargain basement mount'

monoprice is inexpensive but they are used by many many professional installers..at least by the ones not trying to rape your pocketbook.

do you also buy the monster HDMI cables for $100?
