For those that have lost comrades on the field of battle, despite all our efforts to put it behind us, on this day, it all comes back.
Each M-Day is different for me. I endured the most prolific flashback & celebrated their lives with joy on others. Their were years I have shared with family or simply withdrawn to my thoughts.
It has been my pleasure in life, despite the situation, to have walked down the road in Vietnam with the best of the best. I look at a pic of Arlington, visit the Vietnam Memorial in DC & think, there, but for for the grace of God & the men with which I served, go I.
My simple request to the OT is please reach out to anyone you know that has served in combat. Let them know they can share their thoughts of the day & not be alone.

Tigerntx, I'm not a vet BUT have joined our local Team RWB chapter. SO MANY of the members ARE vets and they've all said how the normal, social and physical interactions have been wonderful for them.

Physical meaning bike rides, runs, WOD programs ... check it out. There's probably one in your area.

Also if anyone happens to be in the Lafayette area, wear blue along with Team RWB is hosting a free Memorial Day run/walk starting at 6:30 am at Fresh Market. 5k, 10k and half marathon distances available.

Thank you for your service!

(Really, PLEASE check out Team RWB!!!)

Thank you for all you have done for this great country. I will see vets tomorrow and I will go out of my way to thank them and listen to their stories.

Just spent the evening with a very good friend. WW2 Navy vet, enlisted when he was 16 or 17, always loved listening to his stories. He taught me how to cuss, dirty jokes and to explore the world.

Thank you for your service, but this line:

quote:

please reach out to anyone you know that has served in combat

is more appropriate for Veterans' Day. Memorial Day is more specific and is for those who have given that last full measure in defense of this country. I'm sure you understand this, so I hope my comment doesn't come across as a slam against you. By the way, I'd like to know who gave your post a "down vote" and why?

Thank for your service in Vietnam.

I am proud to call myself a Vet as well and love the dudes I have served with and still serve with today.

There is no better calling in life.

Was at Jefferson Barracks Memorial Cemetery the past month to bury my Uncle, it's staggering the rows and rows of headstones.

So many great men giving so much to our country.
