I have a ton of fresh mint growing in my back yard so I thought I would put it to use. MOJITO time!!

First harvest the leaves

Next slice some limes

Then put 10 leaves and one lime wedge in bottom of glass. Muddle...The mint fragrance really starts to pop...next add two more lime wedges and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Muddle again....fill glass with ice. Pour 2 oz of white rum over the ice. Then pour 4 oz of soda water on top. Stir and enjoy. Add lime wedge as garnish if you like...

Enjoy. Light and refreshing.

Awesome....A Mojito is a great, refreshing drink to cool down with in the summer .

Very nice. I agree with the simple syrup comment. Try it. Also, I no longer muddle my mint. I just use more of it. This gets rid of that sometimes bitter taste from the mint.

What brand and type of water are you using exactly?

In other words, does it matter if it's club soda, seltzer, or mineral water?

Couldn't agree more. Muddle the fruit and stir in the mint.

I'm thinking of planting some mint for future mojitos. What's a good place to get seeds from and what type of mint? Looking online seems there are a few different types of mint to plant

What about simmering the mint when making the simple syrup and straining?

I'm gonna grab some supplies for this for the game.

They're in my head now, and they need to be in my liver.

You cant just dump in sugar, needs to be completely dissolved or make simple syrup.

I do this.
Ounce or so of water.
Teaspoon or so of sugar.
Stir till completely dissolved, maybe a minute
Add about 10 mint leaves
Muddle
Juice of 1 lime
3 oz rum
Top with club soda
Stir
Sprig of mint on top

Substitute first two steps with simple syrup if ya got it made
