Picked up a 7 pounder today. List $3.99/lb with discount was $3.59/lb.
In Houston.
Not sure if this is a good price as it will be my first brisket on the Primo-been cooking pork butts and ribs only so far.

HEB in west Austin had prime packet brisket on sale this week. Had never seen them in a regular HEB before, well anyplace for that matter. $4 per pound which is steep but I'm curious how it turns out vs. a choice or select. Trying it tomorrow.

I wound up picking up about a 10lb untrimmed for $3.49/lb. The flat is all I really like to serve and eat...guess I'll use the meat from the point to make some tacos Sunday. That dudes on the smoker now btw

You're missing the best part. The point is where the action is.

Yes.
The OP better cook it right or it will come out like leather.

Can't say I've seen prime brisket lately however I surely don't see any reason to pay for it. Last piece of meat I would buy as prime would be brisket. Second to last would be a filet. One has enough fat and the other is lean enough.

Oak point had un-trimmed packers on sale for 3 bucks a lb. Got one going on a 5am

Alexander's has prime packer briskets every day for $3.99/lb. Well worth it, unless you can find a choice for way less...

Well if the cost is close ok. If its a quarter a pound or so I'm good with that, just don't see the need.
And Gunny Highway just smashed white boys sunglasses.

It makes a big difference. I used to trim them first, but I stopped. No real benefit.
I don't know anything about the SGT or his sunglasses....

Well if choice is running $3.50 or so and prime is $3.99 i would spend that. My point was prime versus choice on a brisket seems like overkill. But what the hell, I'll try it.
