As someone who interned for Bill Frist, I must admit that Mitch isn't (to me) terribly impressive as Republican leader in the Senate. But he's apparently a damn sight better than the tea-wigs of the party.

How'd he get so fricking rich, btw? $10-$45M in a life in public service?

Same could be asked about Harry Reid and just about every other scoundrel in Congress.

Bevin was a shitty candidate. I'm no TP fan, but McConnell sucks.

That said, Grimes will still get beaten relatively easily.

Mitch is ranked in the top 10 in the Senate. That's rare air. Most of the others were born to it (or married in).

On here, no. IRL, I've worked on 2 campaigns and given about $5500 to GOP candidates since 2002 (first time I could vote in a national election).

How many incumbent Democrats do you expect to lose primaries? An incumbent, from any party, winning a primary is not newsworthy.

Not trying to pick a fight here but how does a desire for lower taxes and less government intrusion get equated with douchebaggery ?

Do you want the real answer or the poli board answer?

The real answer is from his wife's father, FWIW.

Few.

When a wing of the party claims to have garnered a "movement", a whipping is newsworthy.

If that's true, I appreciate the answer. Are we talking his first wife? That would be unusual.

ETA: Didn't know Elaine Chao's family history to be honest. I didn't realize that her father put together that kind of wealth as an immigrant from Taiwan.

I'm not all surprised that someone in Congress would become richer. A bunch of crooks up there. Hell, they're exempt from insider trading laws.

Martha Stewart goes to jail. McConnell, Reid, etc., all kosher. F- them.
