Guess I went with the Poli Board answer. Kinda hard not to, though.

I guess it falls under the standard definition of trolling. I just expect results to get as much coverage as speculation.

Did you consider predictions of his demise "trolling" as well? Wait, you once chastised a poster for posting polling information in early November 2012 because it was "trolling". That was you, right?

Agreed. The movement was co-opted and corrupted long ago but at some point you have to tell the old guard to stop fricking things up and get out of the way so we can try something different.

I had to decide today whether to vote for the right wing over-the-top Bible thumper or the career RINO politician in our Lt. Gov. race.

I'm an old guy but it seems to be time to shake things up a little.

The tea party seem to be the RINOs...they hate "the establishment" and the powers that be in the Republican party, but they don't want to leave? Why is that? Could it be because they need that Republican brand to get elected and fund their campaigns?

Any Republican can wear the badge of "tea party." It's a worthless term. It actually makes me think of mainstream Republicans moreso than it does the fiscally conservative wing of the Republican party anymore.

Because they want to become the establishment. Those who wear the banner are the establishment in waiting.
"Tea party" is a funding operation more than a political philosophy today.

Well here's one. You contended that everyone was "too jaded" to be persuaded by simple polls, and were predictably silent when other posters accused the OP of trolling, or having a tired act or schtick. Perhaps you can offer some clarification RE: what you actually meant.

Just moved there from Louisiana. Not able to vote yet, because I need to acquire a lifetime LA fishing license before switching over. So hopefully yall sort out that mess for me.

Listened to Dan Patrick on Robert Pratt's radio show in West TX yesterday. I remember the Dewhurst-Cruz race, though. Sounds like it might be time for Dewhurst to just go home.

Should have named names in the title. It bears naming.

I'm assuming you aren't expecting or inviting honest discussion with this troll thread title.

How is it a worthless term? The term exists for a reason, does it not? What was its original meaning?

Sure, any old "establishment" Republican can say they're Tea Party, but you have to actually vote them into office based on what they campaign on, and then hold them accountable do you not?

I'm not sure what you mean. This seems nonsensical.

But they are campaigning on something that differentiates them, are they not?

Sure, they may become the "establishment" if people vote them in... but what if, hypothetically, once they became the establishment party they vote for term limits for Congress?
