fter years of study, researchers know that foods high in cholesterol — eggs and butter, for example — play a very small role in raising cholesterol.

“The human body makes about three times more cholesterol than is actually absorbed,” Johnson said. “Some people make more cholesterol than others, and that has a greater effect on blood cholesterol than the things they eat.”

Instead of counting fats grams, Johnson encourages the intake of good fats. These are monounsaturated fats found in nuts, avocados and olive oil. She also recommends animal fats from meat and butter. They prevent overeating.

“Your appetite self-regulates,” Johnson said. “When you eat fat, it helps you feel satisfied. It helps you feel full. It takes a longer time to break down, and you feel full longer. It’s really the key to getting lean, is to eat more fat.”

This post could have gone to the OT or the poli board. I'm of the opinion that if you eat natural foods and stay away from processed stuff, you'll be fine.

I read the article, and it was disappointing to see so little distinction made between refined flour and whole grains.

Pretty sure we've known this for years.

This seems to take the point a bit too far

yes its true, at the end of the day its all about calories in vs calories out vs your activity level

fats are good- olive oil, avacados, nuts

carbs are good- brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc

all that matters is at the end of the week if you are in a deficit you will lose weight, in an overage and you will gain

not hard

This is true for weight control, but there are other factors of health.

This is not news, really. Cholesterol in and of itself in foods does not necessarily raise serum cholesterol in humans. You should eat sensibly, however. Avoid too many saturated fats and trans fats. Burn at least as many calories as you take in. Reduce sugar and sodium to reasonable levels. Not that complicated.

True. You could be controlling your weight just fine all the while having chronic inflammation and feeding parasites or some bacterial over growth.

I stay away from refrined sugar and opt for natural sugar instead (honey, fruits etc). I don't eat wheat. I eat corn and rice very sparingly.

I cook with unsalted butter a lot. I don't shy away from fat. I'm not hungry, and my energy levels are pretty good throughout the day.

I just drink water and black coffee.

Not only have I've managed to loss weight and keep it off, but my overall health is a lot better. My times for being sick are shorter. Sometimes I'll feel the onset of getting sick and then it'll go away completely.

It took a while to get to this point. You have to find something you can live with.
