This is what teachers have to deal with in terms of maintaining order in the classroom. Special ed student (deaf and ADD) commits well over 100 acts of violence in a school year. School has to go to court to keep him out of the school as thanks to "due process" rights, he has to have a hearing that will keep him in school for several more weeks. Naturally mommy and grandmommy oppose removing him from school. Read the affidavit in the link. If you are using an Ipad or apple product, the affidavit may not show up as it is in flash.

Just imagine what the school has to spend on this one slam dunk case. Ugh.

that really sucks...unfortunately, the school district will probably have to shell out even more cash to those who were assaulted by this little asshat...

We had a kid like that at my high school. Threatened to kill several teachers.

I don't have the answer though, I mean you have to balance compassion and the safety of the rest of the school.

Dealing with this right now with a child in my son's class. The classroom has been evacuated and the door held closed with the child inside until someone could get there to help. It's.not the first time this year the other children had to evacuate the 1Sr grade classroom this year. He's thrown a chair at a substitute, held a classmate against the fence while kicking him, attempted to stab a lunch lady with his lunch utinsil, screams & jumps on bus seats every commute, stolen more than we will ever put together, forced classmates to buy him seconds at lunch, regularly trips random people in the hallway... I can go on. He has only been suspended 1 day this year.

No worries, though. His mother is treating his behavior by removing gluten & additives from his diet - the food endowment steal from others.

Yep... any kid who is labeled "special ed" cannot be put out of school.

Had the same kid in my daughter's elementary school. Fortunately for us, he was finally removed from school after beating up a drug dealer and stealing $500 as a sophomore.

Fortunately for us, ours will be rezoned to a different school next year. They already have over 60 "to not place with" requests from parents for next year.

I teach in Ebr. We have many students like this one. It is very difficult to remove an IEP or ESS student. It is ridiculous!!!

My question is, what exactly do these school systems think they're preparing kids like this for? They're taught that they can get away with murder with no repercussions... then they got out into the real world and there are no special rules made to accommodate them. Pretty much goes for all of these kids with special 'accommodations.'

Everyone from the parents to the teachers to the local PD knew the kid was going to jail at some point. Any time the school tried to kick him out, the parents would threaten to sue. They enabled their piece of shite kid and there was nothing the school or police could do.

I have a special needs child, and even I don't believe in inclusion for every child. If a child is violent and disruptive, they should be removed. However, It's a slippery slope because there are administrators out there who will do anything to keep special needs kids out of regular ed classes, even when they belong with their peers. I don't know the answer to the bigger problem, but this kid should be kicked out. He won't be though.

My daughter is special ed and was expelled today. Completely deserved it too. I have a hard time getting the school to give her enough punishment usually.
