Outrageous Outdoor stories. We all have heard them, and maybe told one or two. What are some of the best ones you were told. Many over the years but the black panther shot out of a tree that fell on the guy he was with in Morgan City was a good one.
This weekend a guy in MS told me of a Gator he had to kill because it was too big in the bayou around his house and kids. East Pearl area. Once killed and brought home, the tape measure from tip to tip was 17 feet 2 inces.

Both legends and records in their own ways, yet no pics

forum friendly version:

-Fishing in Bayou Lacombe
-Redfish breaks line off above cork (was prefab cork --> hook rig)
-30 mins later cork pops up & swims towards the boat
-grab cork
-yank 24" redfish into the boat

was pretty cool. glad there were several witnesses

Had a doe come into a food plot once with a buck tailing her. Buck had his nose firmly planted up the does rearend. I'd already burned two buck tags and he wasn't impressive so I shot the doe. The doe dropped right in her tracks (obviously it wasn't a .243). The buck ran off and I started climbing down from my stand. As I got closer to the doe the buck came back out and was sniffing around and looking hard. He sniffed all the way up to the doe and bites her tail while she's laying on the ground. By this time I'm close enough to see that the buck has glass eyes. He's blind and has been holding on to this does tail to help navigate through the woods. I suppose they were brother and sister, but I dont really know. Anyway the buck hears me walking and spooks off a little. I cut the does tail off and stood really still. The buck eventually sniffed back over to the doe and I. I held out the tail about the level of where it would have been on the does arse and the buck reached out and bit it again. I wanted to see if I could make him follow me so I tugged on the the tail slightly and he started following me like he was on a leash. All the way back to camp I lead that buck. Truely amazing. The other guys couldn't believe it either. We wound up killing the buck because we couldn't let it starve without his seeing eye doe. Somebody else burned a tag for him.

Was fishing the Lake P tressles with my brother in law. One of his poles fell in the water. Could not get it back. Fished the rest of the day down the tressles. Later on the way back we anchored at several spots along the tressels. My brother in law snags something, reels it in, It is his fishing pole he lost a few hours back. I couldn't believe it.

A friend and I were snake hunting (catching, not killing) on a levee. There was a small tree protruding out horizontally from the levee with a blue racer sitting there curled up catching some sun. You couldn't walk out to him or reach him otherwise, but we had a fairly long snake hook. I semi-jokingly told my friend, "Just get the hook under him, fling him in the air, and I'll catch him." After a good laugh, we actually tried it. So he gets the hook under it, then jerks up and flings that sucker like 10 feet high through the air. I throw up my hands, more like blindly blocking my face, and I actually made a perfect catch. I had the blue racer by the head and by the tip of the tail in one hand, just hanging there in a loop. I don't even tell people that story because it was so ridiculous.

ETA: I have another to post involving running through the largest paper wasp nest I've ever seen, but I'll need to draw up some visual aids and scan them later.

not very outrageous but a couple come to mind.
Broke a line with a fish on. A few minutes later, I snagged the line, and pulled in a still hooked sheepshead.
I was fishing off my wharf at camp once. I hooked a catfish, but my line got stuck on a log. I finally get it unstuck, and reel in 2 fish??? I was using a small hook. It wallowed a hole in the first fish's lip and came out, with the string through the hole. Then the second fish took the exposed hook. Fish weren't very big, but still freaked me out.

2 day canoe trip down the Ouiska Chitto with my wife and another couple. Light rain when we started out but weatherman predicted clearing by afternoon. Light rain turned into thunderstorms, lightning, 10 foot rise in the river, tornadoes, etc.

We found an abandoned cabin and stayed there for the night. Rescue parties had to wait ‘til the next morning to go out and search for us. The wife and I had already started walking through the woods. After an hour of trudging through mud and woods, we found an old house with a beat up yellow Datsun truck in the driveway.

The dude that answered the door was a scary motherf-er. Wife made me ride bitch in his truck back to the rental place. The owners were crying but turned to tears of joy seeing we were alive. I heard the radio announce “we found two of them, the other two went off in the woods.”

We headed down to the boat launch and met the boat carrying the other couple, all of our gear and our two canoes.

During the storm I could hear my wife praying out loud, it was that scary.

Had something very similar happen to me and 7 others on the buffalo river back in may of 2000. Scary stuff, ended up being rescued by park rangers, there were 50 some odd other people on the river when it happened.

Okay, visual aids are set. I used to have a 16' Center Console flat that I played around with in the West Pearl River right by my house. I liked to go exploring to look for alligators and snakes, and I found a narrow offshoot of the Pearl that was loaded with snakes. I told my dad about it and set up a trip to take him around. Now the first time I went there, the current was nonexistent and I could take the "ideal path" around the fallen trees/logs just using my trolling motor. But the day I took my dad, the river was high and there was current ripping through that area. I had the motor off and was just using the trolling motor, but the current was just taking the boat where it wanted and the trolling motor wouldn't correct my path. So I went around the first set of logs, and while I was attempting to curve around the tree overhanging the water, the current started pulling us right into it. Normally no big deal - might get a couple scrapes from the branches as we pass through it, but no biggie. Then I see it. The biggest freaking red wasp nest I've ever seen. I've been stung by those red/black paper wasps before, and it's not pleasant. Normally, I'd consider a 6 - 8 inch nest a "big" paper wasp nest. This nest was at least 2 feet across, covered with literally hundreds of red wasps. I've seen big hornets nests, but I had no idea paper wasps could build nests that size. And we were going straight at it. There was nothing I could do to avoid it, so I just yelled at my dad to lay on the floor of the boat, and I tucked up behind the center console. The front edge of the boat was just barely scraping the tree since it was hanging just over the surface, but the center console and windshield sit up about 4 feet high. It dragged straight through the tree, right against that nest, and I was fully expecting the most painful death possible from a swarm of hundreds of pissed off wasps. Not a single wasp left the nest. I'm an atheist, but just like there are no atheists in foxholes, there are no atheists when passing through a giant wasp nest. That is literally the most scared I've been in my life, and I still can not believe how those wasps didn't go into a frenzy.
What really sucked was that we still had to come BACK. There was no alternate route. Going back upcurrent was actually easier since it wasn't carrying us toward the tree, and I did NOT use the trolling motor on the trip back. I cranked up the motor and just powered over and through all kinds of logs and debris. Every time I see a wasp now, I relive that experience.

As a young buck, hunting in the marsh below Amelia. I was hunting a wide open area watching a doe play around 230yds. She played until right at dust, I was texting my buddy 2 stands down the whole time. He pumped me up enough to take the nanny, so I setup and let off a head shot from the ol .300 Win Mag, Boom she fell!! About 5-10 seconds later she gets right back up!! So I rack another one in and squeeze off a another head shot, this time she fell and I saw legs kicking, I knew she was done. So, I hopped in the mudboat crossed the ditch and started walking to get her, fell waist deep in the marsh on the way, got soaking wet. When I get to her, it's not one doe, but 2 and they both went about 70lbs on the hoof. I was pissed!!! Apparently one was laying down while the other played after I killed the first the second stood up... I thought it was the same one the whole time!!! I drug them to the mudboat fallin chest deep through the marsh this time!!! Got back to the camp and got my arse reamed by my buddies dad that owned the camp (well deserved) I'll never forget these words " You can't even brag on 2 badass shots because of how bad you fricked up!!!" Learned a valuable lesson that day about judging deer size in open fields...

That's a pretty outrageous story all right. What did the blind buck do at the camp while everyone discussed his fate?

Guy at the camp says he shot a cow elk with his .243 over 500yds away. Dropped her in her tracks.

Fishing Caney Lake

Fish not biting

Hear something flopping in bottom of boat

We both had lures in water

16" bass had jumped in the boat

Dumbfounded looks all around

I got into a box stand with a sow coon and at least one little one.

I didn't see any deer that morning for some reason.

Also saw a guy hit a rabbit in the eye with a rock at about 20 steps. Flopping ensued. Rice was cooked.

Broke a bass of once. Caught the same fish about 30 min later with my Gamagatsu hook and brush hog still in his lip.

I was at a park fishing in a pond when a man approached the other side, pulled his dick out and started to furiously jack off. This is sadly a true story.
