I use Square and Paypal but with low volume. It works great. Where I work we have a very active food truck scene, and they all use Square.

What monthly fees and percentages do you see? We are looking to add credit card acceptance but Intuit wants 3.4% and that simply isn't happening. We take deposits in the tens of thousands at times and 3.4% is way too much to give up.

I don't mind transaction fees as they tend to be very low and we won't even average one credit card transaction a month.

Payanwhere's % is 2.69, SAIL is 2.7 and square is 2.75. You can get them reduced to 1.7 to 1.9 by joining subscription plan for $10-13 a month

I've heard the Square's card reader is cheap and tends to twist and turn when your swiping plus they charge 3.5% +.15 for keyed transactions

Thanks. It probably makes sense for me to pay a monthly fee to get the lower rate. One transaction will pay for the year.

Funny you posted this today.

WSJ has a big write up today comparing several competing companies.

If you're a paying member, click here.

Or run to a Starbucks and buy todays paper.

I found Paypal to be the best. First off you get the money right then and there. Square and Payanywhere you wait a few days.

Also the rate is like 2.67% which isn't bad. I think a new one is 2.4% but I like Paypal and I have my account set up for business and linked to my commercial banking account.

I use capital one's product and my wife uses square. There is a few penny difference. Basically she signed up for square before we ever saw that capital one had a competing product. The capital one reader is nicer and they gave me a better deal than square.

square is having serious business problems. I would avoid them if you can.

I don't use a solution but I did some consulting and I thought intuit offered a really nice solution, but depends on volume
