Just got a call from my buddy's fiancé complaining to me that the best man (also my friend) isn't doing what he's supposed to do yada yada. She complained that he hasn't offered to pay for the hotel that they are staying in the night of the wedding. Saying that it is his responsibility... Personally I've never heard of this. What says the OT?
Is he supposed to pay?
Or is this bish cray?

It is a very old school tradition, the best man gets the couple a hotel room and sets it up for them the day of the wedding.
I have been in a lot of weddings and only seen it done once, when the best man Was an older brother.
Eta: there are a lot of different wedding traditions that are seldom observed, to answer the ops question, the bitch is cray for hearing of this and expecting it to occur

I've never heard of that. I've heard that the groom shouldn't have to pay for the hotel on his bachelor trip.
She sounds crazy!!! I don't know of anyone who has ever done that.

That hasn't been my experience. I've been a best man and am married, and never heard of this.

Best man pays for the bride and groom's room?

I would straight bail on this wedding party. Renting a suit is enough.

Best Mans only responsibility is Strippers and Coke.
Tell that bitch she's being a Bridezilla.

Not to mention that the frickin suit is $200.. For a one night rental...

She's trashy as frick for making a big deal out of it. If the best man does it then great. To expect it and to go as far as bitch and moan about it not being done is just trashy as can be and a huge, terrible, massive red flag for the poor fool marrying her.

Sounds like something one of their parents should do.

Did she ask about the money dance too?

I just was a best man twice the past two years. I coordinated and paid for his portion in Las Vegas for 4 days. If they'd asked me to pay for anything else I'd have said go screw themselves.

been in a heck of a lot of weddings and never heard of that one...

That specifically is certainly not the duty of the best man.
Usually at the very least it's his duty to set a bachelor party up and bring the groom out and get him hammered

The bitch is nuts. That is not anywhere in the best man's responsibility. If anything, it's within the groom's responsibility that his best man have a place to stay for the night. Once they say "I do", the best man's duties end.
