have a couple friends coming in town this weekend, and they made reservations at cafe degas for saturday night, one of them said he has always wanted to go but never been. so after searching, I found nothing but a zillion posts by degas, while usually helpful but not in this case. so food board, what to eat since it will be my first trip as well

I walked by there just Friday after the Fest. I used to eat there frequently in the late eighties and ate there last about a year ago. Very good.

I had the best veal picatta ever at Cafe' Degas, and I love veal picatta. I would get that.

I also had boudin noir at that visit which was very good as well.

I hope the weather is nice when you go.

Definitely get the combination board... it might not be on the menu, so just ask for it. Be sure to tell them COMBINATION board!

I'm not a big fan of mussels, but I've heard people rave about them.

The duck fat fries are really good. I also enjoy the crab salad, French onion soup, rack of lamb, veal picatta...

And here's a coupon for you

I usually get...

Cheese Board
French Onion Soup
Steak and pomme frites
or whatever special they have.

Their lamb dishes are usually really good.

Fun little restaurant, but I don't love the menu.

I've had the hanger steak before and it's good. The pate board is worth ordering.

I have only eaten the mussels and cheese board for apps and the hanger steak for entree. I like the place though service can sometimes be off. They usually have a 2for1 coupon on their web page.

Love the cheese, pate and hanger steak. If they have oysters, they also do a good job with them.
