The zone was quite large that game.

Sweet. It got me thinking about other high strike out games so I decided to wiki it and was reminded of this tidbit: In 1997, Randy Johnson struck out 19 and LOST 4-1.

20 Ks is more impressive to me than some perfect games that were assisted by excellent fielding. That was all on him.

i'm a cubs fan, remember watching it, but i wouldn't go that far...

it's impossible to have that superlative early in the season. games have to matter for that

Like the guy in the article said, it's entirely possible his curveball got better as he went through that game.

And 16 years? Jesus.

Was throwing 98 followed by wiffle balls

Even at that time everyone seemed to know it was only a matter of time before his arm blew up.

Remember Gammons doing a report on it

This.

I don't know why...15-20 strikeout games don't get more love.

I agree. Should have been a no-hitter. 0 H, 20 Ks, 0 BBs, 1 HBP. Ridiculous.
