Internet Explorer 11 Help - Blocking usage
Posted on 5/2/14 at 3:21 pm

My desktop will be used by me from 7am until 4pm Monday thru Friday at work. From 4-5pm it will still be used but by someone else and only for printing UPS labels and/or using our business software.
I have created a new standard user account but want to know how I can block internet usage on the new standard account so that whoever uses it will not have the access to internet explorer.
I did a parental controls setup so that only the programs I allow can be run but this does not lock out ie. I want something that only affects this user and not the main account too.
Any easy fixes for this?

Try here
it's not really an "easy" way to do it but it will do what you want. You need to go through group management...it's basically setting up a user group for "no internet" and then just adding a user to that group.
*edit*
If you're not familiar with group policy and its settings it may be best to ignore this post. You can fubar some stuff good if you just go screwing around.

Just wait for Microsoft tech support to call, let them remote in and fix it.

I personally use Firefox on the main account and it's blocked on the new standard account, but IE is not able to be blocked using parental controls.
One of the online programs we use for credit card level 3 reporting is best used on IE so I can't totally uninstall it. I just want a way to only allow someone to use 2 programs on this computer. I have that accomplished but you can still access IE through the desktop and the start menu search field.

Some of us are stuck with IE at work. I can't download and install anything here. Admin has to come set up all of our software. It is pretty stupid, but I guess it keeps people from putting iTunes, games, and whatever else on their machines. I'd love to switch to Chrome. I used it at my last job, and the only thing I ever used IE for was this program we had built that could pull reports from our intranet within IE.
