Anyone else think this will be a good movie? I'm pretty pumped about it.

I'm going to see it Sunday. I have my reservations. I gotta feeling it may be spider man 3 all over again. Also trying to set up a larger universe so I feel it may be juggling too much.

Yeah, I honestly just go see any movie that has potential, and I did somewhat enjoy the first one. Probably at the movie theatre twice a month.

I just read a few reviews that weren't overly positive. I didn't see the first one and I don't think I'll see this one. Looks like they're trying to do too much all at once.

One critic that I trust said it could be the killer of the entire reboot. It's sad because Garfield is a perfect Spider-Man.

The stuff about the exposition makes me want to vomit. It baffles me that the script was shot in that condition.

This bothers me..

quote:

Both performances are disasters, made worse by the fact that neither character has a real role in the movie; all of Spider-Man’s actual story is separate from Electro and the Green Goblin. The villains are off in their own movie - which is big, and Schumacherian in tone - and they occasionally crash into Spider-Man’s smaller relationship film.

quote:

Electro - who is terrible, by the way - could be removed completely and it would require almost no changes in the film.

This is a bold statement and probably a bit of hyperbole but I guess we'll see..

quote:

This is a movie that puts the Marvel Studios films into stark contrast and makes you thankful for them, because if they didn’t exist The Amazing Spider-Man 2 could possibly put a stake in the heart of superhero films.

Sucks for the guy playing Harry. I've liked him in other roles.

It'll make cash and sony has already too many wheels in motion to kill this reboot, but I don't know how they didn't learn from the mistakes of S3.

I hate Garfield as spider man regardless.

Yeah, it's what I feared. Its clear from the trailers that Green Goblin is the real villain, and that Rhino and Electro are there for no real reason. I didn't like the first one either. They just aren't as fun and comic booky as the originals were. Not necessarily a bad thing for Batman, but it certainly is for Spider-Man.

These guys just need to stop trying to be like Nolan. Yes, it works with Batman, but at the same time it also limits Batman. Think about how much of Batman's Rouge gallery that Nolan's universe forcibly omits. It just doesn't work for everything.

Hopefully when this series eventually faceplants and the Justice League clusterfrick destroys itself, they may want to look more towards how Marvel has handled it with the Avengers. Sure, none of those films are masterpieces and can be infuriating, but I don't think any of them really suck, and to be honest, they're just a lot of fun to watch. That's what a comic book movie should be first and foremost is fun. I think many people in the industry have lost sight of that due to the dreariness and seriousness of the Batman mythos. Not every superhero needs to be like or have a similar tone to Batman. Batman should stand out instead of being the standard other super hero films should try and match.

I saw this movie two weeks ago and have been holding off on talking about it on here.

It's bad, but the worst part is that some parts are great, but they just put those right smack dab in the middle of utter shite.

Jamie Foxx is awful, plain fricking awful.

There are about 7 or 8 really good comic story arcs stuffed into this shitfest. Way way too much going on in this movie. I tried to give someone a basic plot of this movie and I confused myself trying to explain it. Really really disappointing all around.

Honestly, Electro is a B-List Spider-Man villain. He's never really a threat to him and merely a nuisance.

And why Jaime Fox. Honestly, if anything, he should have been comic relief. Yes Jaime Foxx can be funny, but he hasn't really been comic relief in years. I'm thinking more like Charlie Day playing Electro.
