Looks like the guys at BSS are starting to do season reviews for each player, and since Tyreke was one of the more highly debated about players on the team, I figured I'd bring this over here for discussion.

I know it covers a lot we talked about with regards to the starter vs bench role and the Evans/Aminu/Stiemsma lineup vs the Evans/Anderson and Babbitt lineups, but it also goes over some of the other things we don't talk about as much, such as rebounding, passing, and defense.

In summary:
quote:

In many ways, the 2013-14 season was a learning experience for all those involved with the new-look New Orleans Pelicans. Tyreke Evans is a unique talent, and like many NBA players, his effectiveness depends to a large extent on how he is utilized. Coach Monty Williams has now seen Evans in multiple roles for his team, and there should be little controversy in regards to how he can be most effective. Yes, improving his shooting touch and playing with a higher degree of defensive awareness will make him an even greater asset to this Pelicans team, but potentially even more important is deploying Evans in the right role with the right teammates. Surrounding Tyreke with shooters, especially in the front court, will allow him to utilize his biggest strength more effectively. Playing him alongside Jrue Holiday, another play-making guard with even stronger passing skills, will give opposing defenses headaches trying to stop two ball handlers who create so well for themselves and others. With a fully healthy New Orleans roster next season (knock on all the wood you can possibly find), Tyreke Evans will be playing with more talent than ever, and as a result, there is good reason to expect him to have his best NBA season to date.

Worth the read if you got the time, solid write-up by Mason on this one.

The only other one they have up right now is the Stiemsma one, and I'm not wasting my time with that. Looking forward to reading the ones on the younger guys on the team.

That series has been very good. McNamara's article on low post defender was good too.

Bird Writes has been doing reviews as well

I'll have to check out some of the Bird Writes ones to procrastinate from studying over the next week.

Yeah, we've been putting in a good amount of time in our recaps over at the Bird Writes, hope you guys enjoy. Between us and BSS, I'm not sure fans could find better coverage of their beloved small market teams.

Appreciate the link and the read. Lots to look forward to from Evans next season as long as he is utilized in the right manner.

Between David Fisher (BW), McNamara (BSS), & Brian Ball (BW), there's been lots of good stuff written about Tyreke over the past couple weeks.

I enjoyed the McNamara one and the Ball rebuttal. Nice to see two different websites working together in a way.

As did I. Both made good points, regardless of which side you're on. I had to keep myself from reading any of it until after I wrote that Tyreke review so I wouldn't be swayed in my evaluation.
