No way Ariza and Okafor come back to us. Burned those bridges.

With Washington's success I think the odds are high that Ariza stays with the Wizards. Okafor didn't play a single game this season. He'll probably be looking for the best situation, the Pelicans may not be his first choice, but playing in a defense he's excelled in before next to AD has to have some appeal.

Ariza is fools gold.

His play this season will trick some team into giving him decent money when in reality he isn't worth whatever he gets. Kinda like what he did to the Hornets after that playoff run he had

Anyway, Brooklyn has a player option on him next season for $1.5m that you imagine they will certainly pick up.

I'm going to chalk this up to distracted driving, because I know that you know better

This is my fear as well.

I really just don't think we get anyone to bite on Gordon.

I would add Jordan Hamilton (SF- RFA) and Greg Smith (C) to the list. Both are bench guys with holes, but young.

Boozer is a terrible fit. Monty made it clear he wants a true c and Davis a pf. There is no way he works with Davis and Anderson given Monty's philosophy. $30M in 3 players the coach doesn't want to play together sounds very familiar......

What? You're kidding, right? Love is a souped up Anderson who would take touches away from Davis.

Umm no, Love is leaps and bounds better. He is an accomplished post player and gets to the line way more. He is also the strongest player in the league and one of the best rebounders. His defense is suspect, but next to Davis, that'll be covered up a bit. Both can play PF/C. I actually think Davis is a better compliment than Pekovic.

Davis's touches will be affected. But we would have a great "big 3" (Love, Davis, Holiday). As Davis expands his game out to 3pt range, we'd be unstoppable offensively. We just need to pick up solid role players around them.

I do not understand why some of you want him to develop a 3pt game so much. He's better near the rim and I'd rather him stay close and dish it out for the open 3 when teams collapse on him.

And how would you suppose we'd be able to get him?

Let me guess:

EG+Tyreke(or ryno)+ a later pick for him

It's not going to happen

99% of the guys listed are a pipe dream. Love is just as available and could be moved this summer.

Whatever it takes..

Anderson/Evans/Rivers/Jackson/2015 1st (unprotected) for Love, Barea and Budinger..

He gets to the line more (likely due to his rebounding tenacity and creating responsibilities), but he is not a guy that works out of the low post. They run lots of action out of Horns, just like the Pels.

Love took more shots from 3 (35%) than any other zone, just like Anderson (40%).

Love is the far superior player. I would trade Holiday and Anderson for him in a heartbeat. But he's quite similar to Anderson stylistically.

If you don't think Anderson/Davis can work on offense because of skill sets, I don't get how you think Love/Davis would work. If you just want to say Love is better and it would work, fine. But he and Anderson share very similar offensive profiles

If someone would bite for a 3 team trade with us giving Ryan Anderson and Gordon for Greg Monroe and Asik and we can give other pieces or Houston could even to detroit so itwould be jrue reke davis at the 3 and Monroe and asik for our starting 5

Very cool article, but just to cherry pick a few quotes..

"Love is a step down the spectrum toward tradition. He takes a lot of threes -- more than six per game this season -- but also does a substantial amount of work inside the arc."

"That said, only 44 percent of Love's attempts come in the paint. Love is a terrifically skilled post player and strong, yet he floats out to the perimeter, because that's what power forwards do these days and because Love can excel out there."

I think a lot of Love's perimeter attempts have to do with the Wolves offensive philosophy and working with a stiff like Pekovic. Love is a great passer and facilitator (4.4 apg). Working with Davis (athletic, fluid cutter and penetrator) would give his game a whole other look..

Similar, but not the same. My concerns are normally about defense. But Love's game is much more well rounded (offensively).

I don't think going all in like that would be wise.

Jrue/Barea
Gordon?/Morrow?
Budinger?/Babbitt
AD/???
Love/Ajinca/Withey

Budinger is injury prone and not that much of an upgrade over babbitt.

We all know that EG is just meh

You'd take an upgrade at the 5(that's not great defensively) while dealing away an all star caliber 2 and a potential 6th man of the year candidate?

You'd create more holes than you'll fill.

I wouldn't hate that deal if it was Gordon instead of Tyreke(who's a far better player at this time on a better contract) and give them roberts instead(who's awful).

I'd prefer to get a 5 that actually play defense and keep Reke+Anderson plus get rid of EG somehow.

You'd prefer something like the team I listed above over this?

Jrue/Rivers
Tyreke/Morrow
3+D SF(we'd recieve for EG and possibly expire next season)/Babbitt
AD/Ryno
Gortat/Ajinca/Withey

We'd have cap space the next year and we could go after the final piece while still fighting for a top 6 seed(ala houston in 2012)

It's what you have to do now days. Our team is too cluttered with mid-level guys. We need a star to add to Davis and Holiday. In my mind, it should be a dominant front court player. That would allow Davis to expand his game out and reach his full potential.

I know you won't agree, but I think Gordon and Evans are a push. Evans would have better trade value due to his contract. Plus he's played with Martin and they have a good relationship, that might help the trade go through. Gordon would be a nice 4th scorer. At this point, I know he isn't going anywhere, so might as well let him play it out.

We would still have the MLE and some cap space. So if we resign Morrow, Roberts and Smith. Plus pick up Granger or Marion. We'd end up with..

Holiday/Roberts/Barea
Gordon/Morrow
Granger or Marion/Budinger
Davis/Smith
Love/Ajinca/Withey

That's a top 4 seed in the West next year, with two all-stars that are both top 10 players in the league.

Yes, it's a star driven league. If you have a chance to combine a top 5-10 player with Davis, then you need to do it..
