What if a black owner was being racist against whites?

Would it be a big story? Would it be a story at all? I doubt we would hear a peep about it.

I think the media has attempted to ingrain in the minds of the masses that only white men and Sarah Palin can be racist, and that its impossible for blacks to racist against whites.

Reverse racism does exist in this country, but the media wants you to believe it doesn't.

Well. I'm pretty cynical but, I do think if some black owner was caught lambasting his girlfriend for associating with "white people", yeah, it would get a damned lot of play.

No one would give a shite.

Same as me right now.......I don't give a shite what Sterling said.

I really don't know what he said..............I've not heard the tape.........and I couldn't possibly give any less fricks than I give at this current point in time.

Who cares? it wasn't. The guy is a moron and evidently a pretty sub par human being. I don't get all the mental gymnastics on this board to try to draw up hypotheticals to stick up for this guy and Bundy.

This board is obsessed with the "what if" game.

Isn't Louis Farrakhan considered a pariah because of the statements he's made about White people?

If the roles were reversed and, say, Michael Jordan, told a mistress that he didn't want her bringing white people to games, yes, it would be a big story.

I'm not sure if you don't "think" enough or that you "think" too little.

KATC did about 10 minutes on it this morning, and kept showing clips of Sterling from 30 years ago, instead of showing this weak looking old man...... And watch, certain people won't be happy until hes forced out of the NBA and they also will not want him to be compensated for losing his team, either

Great thing about a free market... Its his own fricking fault.

But I do think the players, if they are truly disgusted, need to man up and just refuse to play and demand trades in the off season.

A lot of people talk about standing up for what they believe in, but the almighty dollar is more important to them.

The white guilt crowd is way more "outraged" over this than even the black players.

Gotta suppose they are afraid of what will happen if they don't show the appropriate amount of outrage.

I don't agree with that, but it really doesn't matter. I'm not sure why you would feel the need to stretch the truth.

The Sterling situation should be compared to the Riley Cooper situation. He's a POS who showed his true colors.

Instead, the media is making it out to be much bigger. I've heard it compared to Jackie Robinson, etc. Meanwhile, the players have faced no discrimination. They are and have been treated with respect throughout their tenure with the Clippers. They make tons of money. The comments weren't made towards them. The comments weren't even made in public. All that has happened, is Sterling was exposed himself for what he is.

Obviously, Sterling is a POS and I can understand why people (black and white) wouldn't want to work for him. But there is no need to make it into something that it isn't. The players should be up there mocking Sterling for being ignorant...not playing the victim card.

It would be so easy to present themselves as being above Sterling and his comments. Instead, the talking heads (some former players) are talking about how black people have made these old white people a lot of money...kind of like slavery.

People are dumb. This was an opportunity for black people to mock the "old man" who just doesn't understand the world we live in. And, they could have noted that they have more important things to do to operate the "old man's" business. Instead, they wore black socks and turned their warmups inside out. LOL. The victim mentality is tough to break.

I think it would be a big story, but not nearly as big. I mean, just look at your own wording... you used the term "reverse racism". That implies that whites being racist is the standard... it's the norm. If any other group is racist, it's "reverse racism". Meaning, it's a rare form of racism that's backwards from the standard racism from white people.

I would recommend people going out and listening to the full recording and not just the one edited by the media for maximum shock value.

Completely changes things.

These are my thoughts exactly. 100%.

This is about Donald Sterling being an idiot. This isn't an issue of some kind of systematic racism plaguing the NBA. Donald Sterling didn't even actually discriminate. He just has an opinion.

And now players are staging "silent protests" like they're Tommie Smith at the Olympics?

It's just so stupid. This is about one guy being an idiot. The players are acting like morons.

I've heard the entire 15 minute recording twice.

I really don't even get his argument.

It's one thing for his wife to be with trashy black people (or any trashy people) and he wants her to stop because it hurts his image.

But Magic Johnson?
