House Plans

Was looking online and found a plan that I really like when I am ready to build in a few years. There are very few changes that I would want to make and the company is out of Baton Rouge. Before committing to the set for $575 bucks they have review plans for $125 dollars. Has anyone went this route and how much detail are on review plans?

Haven't gone that route, but my only thought is that a lot can happen in a few years. Seems premature to spend any significant sum of money on plans that far out.

I agree. If you like the plans, they will be there in a few yrs, when you are actually ready to comit to the build.

I certainly did not want to buy the complete set but was more wondering about the review set that you can get for much cheaper ($125). I wanted to do alot of the legwork and start researching HVAC cost and energy efficiency and didn't know if these plans give enough detail.

I'd talk to builders about the online plan first. You may still end up buying it but you might realize some things about the plan that might not want. My wife and I purchased a plan in advance similar to what you're considering and there were lots of details in the plan that someone not in that business wouldn't notice. Ended up having to have it redrawn.

If you are looking to customize your house look into truhomedesign.net there based out of Louisiana and did a great job on knowing the knowledge of construction and gave me great ideas of how to reduce cost.
