We are at full flood stage here so frog gigging is out.

However, the drainage ditches on my farm are loaded with fat frogs. The only way to get them and not get eaten alive by cottonmouths will be to ride the edges of the ditches and shoot them with .22's since the ditches are too deep and steep for a gig to reach. I will have 15 year old kid to retrieve them so that isn't a worry.

I have never shot them before. Where EXACTLY should one put the .22 bullet to incapacitate the fogs? TIA.

Not enough water to float a pirogue. Have to shoot from above.

Why not use a net? I mean if I can get close enough to decide what part of the frog's brain I'm shooting I'm probably close enough to use a dip net.

But you might be a better shot than me.

I am almost surely a better shot, but the range will be 15 feet on the average so a net is out.

Frog season is closed April and May in Louisiana. Shooting at night? Don't think green jeans will be a happy camper.

Tell the kid to rub Gorilla Glue on his legs and the snakes won't bite him. They hate gorilla glue

It's been a long time, but we tried it once. Not sure if it was the velocity or what, but the frogs would jump pretty far when hit with the .22.Hard to find in the grass. We had better luck with a pellet gun.

If the kill spot on a gator is quarter sized it's gotta be at least a dime on a frog.......amirite?
