Jeff Green

Celtics stats: 82 games, 16.8 points per game, .389 on field goals.

Skinny: He was a volume scorer and shooter on a bad team, with two more years at $9.2?million each — the second not guaranteed — left on his contract. He’s eminently available if there’s a contender who believes Green can fit in as a third or fourth guy.

LINK

So available to a contender could disqualify us from the start, or it could mean they aren't expecting much in return because all contenders would have that they'd be willing to trade are late 1sts and bad expirings. I wonder if Boston would have any interest in Gordon. We've kicked them around before as a possible destination, in fact at the deadline the way they were dumping SGs we hoped a trade might be brewing. If they are interested in a Gordon package, with the cap increase, you could have

Holiday/Evans/Green/Anderson/Davis/Rivers/Morrow/Withey

and about $8-$12 million to go after Asik in 2015 depending on if the cap goes up again like they're projecting.

I always liked him before his surgery. Is he all good with that?

He played in 82 games this season and 81 last season, so I would think so.

If the Pelicans are willing to take on Gerald Wallace's contract, Green/Wallace for Gordon works...

Picking up Wallace is like keeping Gordon in terms of crippling our ability to add a starting quality FA in 2015. I'd rather give up Rivers or a 1st than take on Wallace.

Bringing in Wallace would be absolutely stupid move.

I think the contender point they made is that he's likely a final piece to a puzzle in their mind and not for a team looking to rebuild. He'll basically be a cheaper albatross at worst than Gordon with his 2015 player option:

Green: $9.2 Million
Gordon: $15.5 Million

Plus he'll fit a need.

I'd give them Gordon and our 2015 1st for Green/parts (joel anthony?). In a heartbeat.

Jrue
Reke
Green
Davis
???

With Ryno coming off the bench would be legit as frick.

I wouldn't take on Gerald Wallace for anything though.

The only scenario where the Pels should remotely consider a Green/Wallace trade is if they got lucky in the lottery, and drafted Embiid.

Another skinny body to go with AD and this one with back issues? No thanks. If the pels luck into the lottery our pick needs to be wiggins

I would rather eat Wallace's contract. Don't we still have that exemption thing? If so, cut Wallace after next season and we are in great shape to work something for a big.

When there's Lewmiz, there's a way.

How can you believe an article that is written for the Boston Herald and can't even get the guy's stats correct.

Green would likely be a one year rental for the Pelicans anyway.

If you're referring to Amnesty, that wouldn't apply here.

Only players under contract with the team when the CBA was created.

If they would take Gordon without us having to take back Wallace, I'd be all over this.

It solves our SF problems, and it allows Reke to move into the starting lineup at SG.

Eh, is about the same weight as Withey when he played for Kansas. ESPN has him listed at 250 lbs. He definitely has the frame to add more bulk. His annual progression in both strength and weight would correlate perfectly with what he would be asked to do in his first two seasons.

Year one - Provide quality minutes in a rotation with Withey and Ajinca.

Year two -Emerge as the "starter", providing 20 to 25 min. per game, so as not to cut into Anderson's minutes.

Year three - Minutes increased to 30 to 35 as Anderson becomes a free agent.

I'm having 2nd thoughts on taking Wallace. Wallace is $5 million less than Gordon meaning he'd probably be easier to dump if we end up paying someone to take the contract, which seems somewhat likely at this point.

Ideally you get rid of the bad contract asap, and if Boston would take Gordon and Rivers for Green you do it, but if they'll only do Gordon for Green/Wallace, I think I take that trade.

There's definitely some logic to that, especially if you KNOW that Gordon is going to opt in (which you must assume he will).
