Restaurants Around the Metairie Marriott or in the Metairie Area

A friend of mine has to meet with a guy with the Golf Channel who's there for the Zurich tournament. Of course, this will be in the middle of Jazz Fest. The guy is staying at the Marriott in Metairie. Trying to find the best restaurants at which they can meet and get a better than average meal, at least. Price doesn't matter. At this point, type of food probably isn't an issue so the field is open on that. The guy is from South Fla so he probably gets plenty of seafood. I've got a few places in mind, but not many.
Suggestions?

Old Metairie isn't far from there. I would suggest Vega Tapas.

Mr. Eds oyster house
Restaurant Cypress for a less casual option.
Dragos is always a favorite of out of towers I have come in for business.

He's done Drago's and apparently they want to avoid it.
I've never heard of Restaurant Cypress. I'll look that up.
What about Vincent's? I loved my meal at the St. Charles location.

Vincent's is great. Ive had better experiences at the one in Metairie.
Austin is another place right there, Mr. Eds upscale place.

Its not like it would be that hard to go into New Orleans.
Is the Marriot the Lakeway Center?
If so, not a whole lot of "great" options in that area.
I do like Cafe Equator for casual Thai food.

Cafe Equator is very good IMO.

People have already said pretty much everything that I was going to suggest. The only thing I'll add is the food at Martin's Wine Cellar is great. Not a traditional restaurant setup but still very good.
Just thought of Heritage Grill as well.

Good man. I went there Saturday w/ some family and it was pretty awful. Particularly given the price.
VIncent's is a solid rec.
Would they drive over to Mondo?

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm not the biggest Drago's fan, but didn't you say it was nice the other day?

I know that, but with Jazz Fest, I think they decided to hang around the Metairie area. I've already sent Nola suggestions for the crew, so they have those.

I believe so. The restaurant doesn't have to be right in that area. I believe the point was to try and find some that might not be full due to Jazz Fest.

Yeah, I figured that. I looked, but didn't come up with much in the Metairie/Kenner area. I don't frequent that area, though, so I'm not as familiar with what's there.
I thought of Mondo, but figured it might be a Jazz Fest attendee location. It's on my list, though.

I think Vega Tapas and Equator are two best bets. Vega is more upscale and feels like a NOLA restaurant.

I don't recall what exactly I said. Looking back it was pretty miserable overall experience. The food wasn't inedible by any means. The char-broiled oysters were damn good, but outside of that everything was pretty meh. When you combine the shitty decor, the mediocre food, the high prices, the geriatric atmosphere, the unkemptness .. it's just not a good spot.

There's also Chateau du Lac which is adding a location at the old La Boca spot so it's almost like eating in NOLA!
Ristorante Filippo gets good reviews.
