They both happen to reverse roles as the playoffs for each sport goes on.

NCAA tourney's biggest intrigue is the first couple of rounds, while the NBA playoffs usually dont pick up until the conference finals.

By the conference semifinals, the level of play is insane.

I am a Boston Celtics fan and the years from 2008-2012 were so much fun. Not so much anymore, but when you have a team that is competitive and battling it out, there is really nothing better than the NBA playoffs for emotion and adrenaline. Every possession counts.

Exactly.

There have only been four 1st round series in the past four seasons that have gone 7 games. None of those series involved a team that advanced past the 2nd round. The 1st round is usually a gigantic waste of time.

The NCAA tourney normally starts with a blur and slowly settles in, and the Final Four isn't nearly as interesting. The NBA starts pretty crappy and get good as they move along. But the first round? Close series tend to be between two thoroughly mediocre teams and series with a great team is usually a curbstomping of an outmatched foe. But the lack of 1st round drama tends to pay off down the road.

The NCAA tournament quality of play is terrible. I'd much rather watch this Houston Portland game than any of the final four games this year.
