Do you think any American city will see its end in your lifetime?

Not necessarily a ghost town, but close to it. In other words, a downward population shift due to crime, environmental effects, mass migration to other locales, etc. that is so much stronger than what has been going on in Detroit the past decade or so.

And if so, which cities are the most likely? Also, feel free to mention any cities in foreign countries that could see such a demise.

Does Chernobyl count?

In all seriousness, as for American cities...probably some places in North Dakota after the oil boom runs out

This is exactly how Downtown Tulsa feels to me. It is like it is completely deserted even though it has a fairly big infrastructure.

Wow, can't believe someone else on this site knows about this place. I wouldn't be surprised if there are subdivisions in Baton Rouge with a higher population.
