Thinking about making the move to Nashville from New Orleans(born and raised in BR). What are some good places to look for housing and such for a young married couple in their upper 20's?
TIA

What specifically are you looking for? Nashville has a relatively low cost of living so you can find a good house just about anywhere in or around Nashville. Also there is little to no crime so that shouldn't be an issue. If you are a baller then Brentwood would be more of your calling.

Not a baller but we do fairly well. I guess specifically what I am looking for is an area that would allow for a nice house that is affordable in a great community. Which seems from everything I have researched is readily available in multiple areas around Nashville

You have many many options. How close to the city are you trying to live? Check out the Green Hills area, Cool Springs area, Mt Juliet, Gallatin, Antioch. There are plenty places to choose from, you just have to get more specific and detailed because of all the options.

For younger folks:

Bellevue to the west
Tusculum to the south (just on the Williamson/Davidson county line

For hipsters:

East Nashville (gentrified area)

I lived closed to Vanderbilt and still have my condo that I can't sell

We also lived in the Tusculum area and had a nice house and yard. The commute did not work for my wife and I as we were both residents.

Well my job offer is in Cool Springs and the wife is a nurse so I assume she could find a job anywhere as healthcare is Nashville's biggest market

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? You are making one of the best decisions taking the job offer in Cool Springs. You're wife should definitely have no problem finding a job rather quickly. You will look back and realize what great of an opportunity you have coming from New Orleans. Cool Springs has a lot of good living communities, the prices there might run a little high but you can't go wrong even at the standard living rate there. Honestly if it's just you two I would look at an apartment until you get a feel for where you want to live because the options are limitless.

I am 26. And from everything I have read the Job market is booming around Nashville(and Cool Springs even more so). And the company who offered has a pretty good reputation as well. Pretty damn excited. Where are you from originally?

Creve hall is a good area. Have a few friends who live there. Shoot me pm if interested. I have a friend who is a real estate agent and deals with that area a lot.

I'm from New Orleans and after living in and around Nashville, I never want to live in Louisiana, let alone New Orleans again (although I love and have to visit because it will always be home.) You really have a lot of upside here and at your age this is the perfect place for you.

He'd be roughly 20 minutes from Cool Springs, about 10 minutes from shopping/grocery stores and it's right off I65. Some really old homes. He could do better. Also it's Crieve Hall.

Yeh, just spitballing here, but the little research I have done it looks like Cool Springs, Brentwood, Bellvue, and Franklin will be the first places I look. Then maybe after a few years, Bellemeade

Depending on how close you are to the interstate, creve hall is no more than 13 min tops. Good community.
If your wife can land a nursing gig and you have some good income, I would go 12th South / 8th Ave S (Melrose) area. It has the most "culture" as they say. I lived in East Nashville for 4 years and absolutely loved it. Took me exactly 27 min to get to my office in Cool Springs.

Rent a place for a year in one of these places to get a feel for the city and then make a decision to purchase. Personally, I live in a townhouse off of West End (about a mile away from Vandy).
