Smyrna and LaVergne to the south used to be good places to live. Joelton to the north if you want to be in the middle of nowhere but not too far from downtown.

If you are working in Cool Springs, then I would live in Franklin or South Brentwood. If you don't have kids there are some great townhomes in Franklin that are within your price range. I am not sure of the prices on condos/townhomes, but downtown Franklin is an awesome area. The drive over to Cool Springs wouldn't be great, but is worth a look.

Creve hall is a good area.

It's Crieve Hall. Get it right. I grew up there. Not a bad place. A little slow for my tastes, but the price is right and it's easy enough to get to Cool Springs. I drove to Franklin everyday for high school and got there in about 25 minutes from Crieve Hall.

all these people saying Cool Springs and Smyrna don't live in Nashville. Those are brutal commutes if you actually work in Nashville.

I pay $1,400 rent for a super nice 2 bedroom townhouse in Greenhills.

The traffic on i65 is really really really bad during commuter rush hour.

I though the job was in Cool Springs, 840 makes it easier than driving too downtown. Honestly with 65, 40, and 24 meeting downtown any outlying area is a nightmare getting to downtown.

The OP did say his job will be in Cool Springs. That is why I suggested he look in Franklin/South Brentwood.

I live in South Williamson County and I work in downtown Nashville. 65 traffic sucks. I wish my office was in Cool Springs.

I live in N Williamson and work in Green Hills vs Cool Springs. Wife has office in Cool Springs but works out of her satellite office in downtown Franklin. Quicker for both of us vs Cool Springs option coming from Temple Hills.

I've been to Nashville many times. Great city but like you said, the traffic is horrendous. This coming from a lifelong BR resident. I always joke with people who live there that the place is overpopulated. Everywhere you go is packed.

Three major interstates meeting downtown will do this.

that is incorrect sir.

you can live in fairview, bellevue, west nashville..hell even dickson and rarely if ever have traffic.

i've lived near loveless cafe for 17 years and maybe a handful of times in all of that had problems with traffic.

those who live north, northwest, northeast, east, southeast or south, however...ya'll are on your own

That's why the 37069 is so desirable, and so damn expensive. There is rumor of a few projects coming off 100 that will increase population if/when they go through

I've got friends who bought in Hendersonville on the lake. Really nice area and not too far from downtown. I have no idea if that's a viable option for you based on location though. Nashville is an awesome place. I could definitely live there.

Nope. That's a hour commute at least to cool springs daily.

Sprawl will do this, and with the legislature making rapid transit illegal, don't expect that to change any time soon. One step forward. Two steps back.

Illegal? That stupid arse train to mt Juliet is a joke and whose bright idea is it to remove 2 lanes from west end for some retarded AMP super bus to make it easier for bums to get to the burbs to panhandle?

You won't find me defending AMP, but I think there was some major overreaction to it. Putting local transit needs in the hands of the state assembly is a bad move.
