Will crawfish stay good overnight with a layer of ice on top the sack in this cool weather. Been on ice fir 6 hrs. Drains pulled no water in chest

They should be good until tomorrow as long as they are cool and moist. I have done it that way. They will last until the salt bath

They should be moist I've put ice twice. Just a thin layer on top. Gonna put a little more before bed. Drains are pulled. I'm sure they are dormant. Will they come back to life when purging

You should be good. If I have an old blanket, I'll put it between the ice and crawfish so the ice isn't sitting directly on them. Don't know if that helps or not but I've never had a problem either way.

My brother swears you need to leave a crack in the ice chest lid? He is a little bit crazy and drinks too much

Tilt the chest toward the drain By placing a brick, board or rock under the end opposite the drain. Cuts the risk you'll drown the lower layer.

Don't purge. Just rinse them off with a hose.

I do this every year for the St Pattys parade and have never had a problem. Ice on top, lid cracked, drain open and they will be fine.
