Makes applying for NFA items much easier, while also allowing your son, family, etc. to "inherit" them once you've died (assuming they are trustees as well, as such they technically co-own them).

Who else would get them?

I'm not 100% sure of the exact laws or process, but when you apply for the stamp without a trust, you are the one and only lawful owner of the item. For anyone else to get possession of it, I would imagine they would have to go through the application process to obtain the item. As far as what happens to it in the meantime, I have no idea. With a trust, you can list whomever you like as trustees, and when you apply for the NFA stamp the trust is the owner, not a sole individual. So technically any member of the trust can legally possess the item.

I used Mr. Terry as well. I recommend him to anyone that ask about getting a trust written up.

I had my trust drawn up over a year ago, and we got our suppressors in within the last month. I sent him an email to make sure I was filling in the information correctly and he replied quickly with my answers.

can't recommend him enough.

i understand if you want supressors and such... but if i die tomorrow my guns would still go to my family. I dont see the need in a trust for this

not sure if terry went up on his prices in the last year, but it cost me under $400 for him to write the trust. I've heard the guy from Lafayette charges closer to $600.

Assuming none of your guns are SBR's, full auto, or other NFA regulated items then yes you are correct.

a gun trust is mainly for NFA items (machine guns, short barreled rifles, suppressors, etc.)

Because it is illegal for any individual to possess an NFA item not in their name, a trust allows an entity to own the firearms with members of the trust who are allowed to be in legal possession of the firearms.

otherwise, you are correct, your firearms would go down to your family
