If you could stop at one place by yourself to eat a meal anywhere between Houston and BR along I-10 (willing to venture off the interstate, but staying along that corridor), where would it be (preferably under $20)?

That's what I was thinking, but just wanted to hear if there were any other hidden gems that I'm not aware of.

There are plenty of good places in Lafayette, but at that point you're either just leaving or almost to BR.

So I'm not the only one who knows what at every exit number.

I had Whataburger on Saturday (Chophouse burger, mmmmn) and we have those in BR and even in Gonzales so I'm looking for something I can't necessarily get in BR like a legit po'boy, good Mexican food, good Cajun food, ect.

This. Unless you've had a real poboy before. Then you will just be disappointed.

These can't be found in BR?

Stop in Scott and get some boudin.

Nope (although legit po'boys do exist, but they are few and far between)

I may do this even if I eat elsewhere

I spend half my time in Texas and the other half in BR, although BR doesn't have the abundance of Mexican like Texas, it is on par in terms of quality.

Fwiw I eat Mexican probably 3 times a week sometimes.

I agree with you Jones. Most of the people on this board would rather shite on BR's food scene instead of finding the hidden gems. Especially when it comes to Mexican food.

Where are some good Mexican places? I've heard good things about El Magey and Taco de Sabor but both places are pretty far from where I live and work.

If you're passing through on a Saturday morning, you can get a pork chop sandwich at Don's in Scott. That was pretty damn strong.

Chaba Thai Cuisine in Beaumont was real good. It's just off I-10.
