I am somewhat fan of a Glock and own five. Looking for a new gun for the wife to carry due to its reliabilty and simplicity.

Right now she carries one of my .40 baby glocks when she packs. They have some recoil, looking to tone it down for her.

I know there are other handguns that would fill the need but curious about the Glock 42

How does she carry her gun? On her hip or pocket, or in her purse. If in her purse, wouldnt you want a bigger gun that's easier to locate without looking? And the recoil on those Glock 27's are pretty horrible. I wouldnt want my gf handling one of those. Full-size 9mm would be a better option if at all possible.

It shoots fine. Just wait until next year when the Glock 43 comes out, 9mm

Well she can shoot the .40 alright. She usually just carries it in the vehicle and have one easy access for her in bedroom.

Her and her mom both want to get a ccl. Just thinking about other options for her.

Plus, new gun in the family.

A single stack subcompact 9 is probably going to have nearly the same recoil.

I got a Ruger LCP a few years back. I wish I had waited and got the 9MM version. It wasn't out at the time. I've shot one of those a few times, and it is decent for a small carry gun, and 9mm > .380.

Turn that 42 into a 9MM then you got something.

Just get a 9mm. A big 380 is pointless.

My XDs9 has a pretty light recoil. My wife handles it easily and this weekend my 9 year old nephew shot it several times.

My Nano has very little recoil, imo. I can shoot it all day with no problem.

Most .380 have a perceived snappy recoil because they are blowback. The G42 is a locked breech, I would imagine the recoil is Very noticeably less than a .40 and a perceivably less than the G26. IMO.

True.

To the OP, I know you like Glocks, but there are some good self defense guns available that don't have "Glock" on the side of the gun. It sounds like a small, single stack 9mm would be a good choice for her. Just about everyone, excetp Glock, makes a small, single stack 9mm, including in no particular order: S&W, Beretta, Bersa, Ruger, Kimber, Springfield Armory, Sig, Kahr, and prolly others I missed.

I went to Glock Armorers school two weeks ago and they had a 42. I didn't get to fire it for obvious reasons but. it felt really nice. I think it would be worth buying. Perfect little pocket gun for CC.

Too big. A Kahr CW380 holds just as many rounds and is a fraction of the size and weight.
