My deductibles went from 1,000 to 500 on collision/comprehensive

I raised my coverage from 25,000/50,000 to 50,000/100,000

I raised my uninsured motorist from 25,000 to 50,000

I added medical payments and rental car.....

Overall my bill went from 175.85 a month with Geico to 155.28 a month with State Farm for better coverage. Odd when I called Geico yesterday to ask why my cost was so high compared to other quotes they said it was because I hadn't entered my VIN on my vehicle.

Other quotes with same coverage as I got
ESurance- 161.77
Progressive- 191.10
Geico- 145.22
The General- 151.18

I have no accidents or tickets within the past 5 years as well

You don't have good record or credit score. I'm with Geico.

I have 300/500 on a 2014 Camaro with $100 deduct, max med payments, comp, roadside, max rental.

I pay $139 a month.

I checked with State Farm. They wanted $300 a month for same coverage.

Progressive wanted $365.

I laff'd. My 2012 CRV was $80 a month with same coverage when I had it with Geico.

OP, get road side insurance for a couple bucks a month. If you travel a lot, that will take care if you ever break down on the road.

Been with SF for over 35 years and I check often, but discounts keeps SF cheaper for me.

Are you young? That seems really high. I have a way better policy with State Farm and it's about $80 a month.

Wait until you have an accident and let me know how State Farm is working out for you. I switched to Geico 10 years ago and do not regeret it one bit.

Never had a problem claiming with SF. Even with a few from my son when he was a teen.

I've got SF and have been very happy with them, but I want USAA.

Decent credit score and no accidents/tickets within 5 years, now if you go 7 years I have 1 accident and 3 tickets. 1 for speeding, 1 for careless operation, and 1 for illegal tint (which shouldn't count towards premium)

Tickets/accidents should only be on your record for 3 years.

Not sure what kind of vehicle you have, but that does seem a bit high.

U should try to get a quote from Farm Bureau. Their rates in Ascension are very competitive

Are you a minority? My Asian employee claims they rate him higher risk even though he has no accidents. Has bit over basic on a 6 yr old SUV, pays more than I do.

We both 28.

Call Farm bureau. But, if your credit isn't great your rates aren't going to be great either.... Have had farm bureau along with my parents for well over 20yrs.

People:

Raise your deductible.

I was with GEICO for about twenty years, got with an Independent Agent a couple of years ago and got more coverage for less (with Safeco for these first two years, but I don't care who it's through, it's insurance, I'll sue if they don't pay).

I've heard USAA is good, I understand they don't put up with problem drivers. That's fine with me.

So, Geico came back with a price that beat State Farm and you switched?

Also, I think it is a good idea to shop car insurance every couple of years. You might be surprised to find better rates.

This board loves some USAA, but after having them for years and assuming it was the best bang for my buck, I shopped online and saved FIFTY (50) freaking percent with better coverage. Wish I would have shopped sooner. USAA couldn't match the better rate.
