The application asks for a hunter education number and says it is required for anyone born September 1, 1969 or later...is this required for the infant hunting and fishing license?

No, went through it for Christmas. They do want the original birth certificate though, and dont expect to get it back

yes your infant must take the written exam and shoot a 300 winmag at 400 yds....

but seriously.... I just did the paper work for mine... they must get it once they reach of age to hunt alone i believe.

I think you get it back if you hand deliver your application

You just get a certificate for them. After they are 10 and can take the hunter safety course you get the actual license.

I bought one and it was the worst thing I have ever done. My son hates fishing.

Where do you hand deliver the application? I saw the note about not getting the original certified birth certificate back if done by mail, which seemed really odd.

Read the application, smartass! (sorry, had to say that with your name)

It says that it is not required to purchase the license if under a certain age, just that you don't get the actual license until they do pass the course.

I figured it wasn't required, but the app I downloaded doesn't have any disclaimer about under the age of 10 and I wasn't sure if I had to get some sort of waiver to go along with the app.

I appreciate all the help

Yep all three of my kids have their certificates for their lifetime licenses filed away. I had to send in certified copies of the birth certificates that the LAWLF kept. Even with them keeping the cert. $200 + $30 or so for a birth certificate is still a deal for a lifetime hunt/fish license. Hell by the time they would actually need to purchase a license it will probably be over $100/yr to hunt and fish as a LA resident.

I think ours are like $10 in Alabama. We have several "original" copies for both of our kids.

Would have been like $15 if i could have gotten to vital records but LA charges you an absurd convenience fee for online ordering.

I think AL does too but the place here in Birmingham is downtown and I work downtown. Drove over at lunch one day and I was back in the parking lot in 10 minutes.
