So recently was my first time trying KBS at the cove. The fact that you gotta wait 45 minutes for this brew to warm up sucks but in the meantime drank a speedway stout and some Iris.

Anyway, have any of you guys had it yet in Baton Rouge and what do you think about it? I'm gonna get some bottles to try at room temp but for a BA stout they should really tap this at room temp in the bar somehow.

The Cove had some Speedway Stout?

I had it at the Cove last week and really enjoyed it, agreed that they served it a little too cold but not overwhelmingly so. Seems like they could devote one of their coolers to stouts and keep it a little warmer than the rest.

I'd rather too cold than room temp.

But yea they served it too cold. No biggie.

Probably not. Although I don't know when the Bulldog is tapping theirs, so maybe there's a chance.

Very unlikely. You may get lucky @ one of the BD's in Nola since a lot of the people that go there aren't looking to drink craft beer.

I spoke with Polly @ Ave Pub this weekend. They got 2 kegs. They already blew one and they're saving their other for American Craft Beer Week which I think is in either late May or June.

so if you are not a bourbon BA guy, is this worth the search?

I can usually stand them if they have lots of coffee in them

I appreciate you almost telling me about it. But I'm running the Marathon of Beers in Nola that day.

Yes, it's right up your alley. Not too boozy and has a good bit of coffee.

Where is "The Cove"?

I could only get 1 bottle of KBS this year, which is an improvement from 0 last year. I would drink it slightly cooler than room temp.

Maybe I had a bad bottle but the 2014 I cracked Friday night was exactly the opposite. All barrel and very little by the way of coffee or chocolate notes. As compared to the 2013 we had the same night the 13' was so much better.

Wiltz, someone mentioned that Cigar City is plentiful in Jacksonville, is that true?

CCB has really ratcheted up production of it's core lineup (Jai Alai, Maduro, etc) and I'd expect you will find them in Jacksonville pretty easily. CCB really hasnt done much by the way of large format seasonals in about two months now. The release calendar shows a sour ale coming soon and I understand it will be released any day now. Around Tampa you can find Dubbel Dare, Gentlemens Club and the New Belgium collabs still on the shelf. Not sure how Jacksonville will do.

Be sure to hit Green Room and Intuition while you are there. If you have time Bold City isnt bad.
