Possible trade partners for Bush.

After giving it a lot of thought, the best route to take with Bush is to match the Falcons' offer sheet and trade him. I don't blame him for looking for a starting position and it's not unexpected that Atlanta went after him (he originally signed with the Falcons as a UFA out of college), but the Saints need to get some value out of this.
Here is my list of potential trade partners. Each would afford Bush the opportunity to start (or get major playing time) and might get the Saints a 4th or 5th round pick in the process:
1. Dallas Cowboys
2. Lions
3. Cardinals
4. Ravens
5. Eagles
6. Colts (Might be the best bet. They don't have a 1st round pick and the only elite Safety in the draft, HaHa Clinton-Dix, will be long gone by the time they pick in the second. Bush will be better than anyone they'll pick at that point).
Each of the teams above is excepted to select a Safety within the first few rounds and would present Bush with the opportunity for immediate playing time.
Of course, my first choice is for us to keep him. I don't know where we are on money, but I suspect even the $2.2M it'll take to keep him might present a problem. I guess we'll find out on, or before, Tuesday.

if any of those teams wanted him, they would have made him an offer

I certainly thought about that as well; but stranger things have happened in the league before.

After looking at some of your posts and threads you started, you sure as hell don't have any room to jump on anyone.

I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah, with out compensation, they could have all offered and signed him to an offer sheet. Only one did and I doubt they give up a pick to get him if the Saints match. Which, is why i said from the beginning that I don't think they'll match.

Only way a trade happens is with Atlanta. And I don't see more than a 5th coming from that (more than likely a 6th).

Darren Sproles' wife is gonna be pissed if we do that.

Cowboys. Bush for Claiborne... We could throw in Philly's 5th

The rules don't allow us to trade with the Falcons. The team that signs a player to an offer sheet can't offer anything of value to the prior team not to match. If the prior team matches, can't trade to the offering team for 1 year.

Okay so a trade is completely out of the picture. We either match or we don't. No one else will trade for him.

Most probably right.

We should match, and worst case scenario we spend a little extra on a #3 safety.

I agree.
I'd match and wouldn't even think of trading him. The only caveat to that would be the plan we have for Champ.

That makes the most sense; just wonder how they'll get that done money wise. If we can't do a long term deal with Graham and he happens to win a grievance (if he files), we'd really be screwed.
