Did Rettig play in the Spring Game? If so, how did he do?

Garbage time against the practice squad. Threw a couple of passes. Had one nice deep ball to Dural

sounds like he's not even in the race. But just a couple passes and one was a nice deep ball (someone who can throw a nice deep ball), sounds like what we need. Just really confused about his situation. Why is he not in the competition or have the others passed him up by so much in practice that he is no longer even a consideration for the starters spot? Can't say it's because he isn't a dual threat because Mett was about as non mobile a QB as you can get and he was the man for the last couple years. What are his weak points that are holding him so far back? Harris and Jennings are good, but it's not like they are showing that they are budding superstars who can't be beat out.

Why is this such a "confusing" situation.
HE APPARENTLY ISN'T AS GOOD AS AJ AND BH. No it isn't a conspiracy and yes he has been given a chance to compete. The coaches feel he isn't on their level.
Get over it and quit steaming about it all of the time.

I couldn't agree more. Les knows that unless you have a very special pocket passer then an athletic qb is where it's at. I mean Auburn went to the BCSNCG with Nick Marshall for Christs sake.

I too think this is the direction Les wants to go. But AJ McCarron was neither a special pocket passer nor an athletic QB and Bama had an incredible run with him.

Rettig kinda has a sling shot release like favre. Its not all that accurate but he looks like he throws hard.

When Harris goes pro after this year we will need him.

So says the rant, so it is.

they had an all-world offensive line and a couple of NFL starting running backs...

This. Surround your QB with exceptional talent and let him play to his strengths. Rettig is simply not ready to start at a top caliber program right now. He has a good arm but came in way behind on running a pro style offense and grasping the playbook. He isn't the athlete that AJ or BH are either.

That's what LSU will have next year too.

experienced player with an NFL arm and a couple of special receivers. Les and Cam know the passing game is going to take a step back this year and want a QB that can move. If LSU had a Zach Lee going into his junior year this year, Rettig may be seen as a legitimate "next in line". On the radio broadcast today, every time Les was asked about AJ or BH he commented on their "ability to extend a play with his legs".

Did anyone think that his throwing mechanics looked a bit distressed?

Definitely. I think it has everything to do with his happy feet.

well it didn't hurt that he had great talent at every position around him. Practically every O-lineman they have is a 1st round pick, their RB's are great, look at Lacy. and Yeldon. The recievers are no slouches, and the freshman TE they had last year is a beast. Imagine what a guy like Mett could have done in that offense. Hiesman trophy guaranteed. Didn't hurt that the defense is stacked to the gills with talent. Three and out was the norm for them on D. shite man, Jarret Lee probably would have won the Heisman if he played at Bama.
