Vehicle Allowances from Employer

Anyone receive a monthly vehicle allowance from their employer? How much are you receiving and how is it structured? I’ve had a job offer years ago that offered me a $400 monthly vehicle allowance and $0.10 per mile for all business related mileage. I am renegotiating my compensation package with my current employer and would like to know what is customary.

I think that's a low mileage rate. I get $400 a month and $0.50 per mile. The government rate is $0.56 per mile.

Used to get a 600/month (400ish after taxes). Should get it back in my next position. 56 cents a mile, but rarely drove for work.

At my old job we got $9200 a year divided b/w 26 pay checks with taxes taken out, came out to $370 a check after taxes. We expensed all gas unless we were going on vacation. We also had $1800 per year maintenance budget.

We get straight IRS rates on all mileage, $.56 per mile. I hate putting mileage on my cars. I have a deal worked out with a local Hertz. I get insurance rate of $30 a day unlimited, and always get great cars to drive. Last week, it was a new (under 700 miles) Buick Elantra SUV with all the nicest features. The week before I had a Mercedes GL450. Four weeks ago it was a new (under 2000 miles) Kia Cadenza.
A four day road trip may put on 1300 to 1600 miles or more. Yes, I pay for the rental, but at only $30 a day, I don't have to go far at $.56 a mile to pay for the day's rental. Of course, I still have to account for it as supplemental income, but I make enough to pay for a car without loading up the miles and I can still write it off.
