So what happened?

What are the defensive problems?

I heard we were in trouble defensively the entire second half. True?

TIA

Omar Gonzales and we couldn't seem to hold possession in the midfield anymore.

And not maintaining possession in the midfield hurt us. We looked like we were chasing the game for some reason. Not really sure what happened in the midfield to cause this.

In a real match, we would have made different substitutions with a mind to regaining control of the game.
Basically Mexico just never let us get comfortable on the ball. Then we brought on Green, who is green and Donovan who is out of shape, and they didn't help much to turn the tide especially at first.
No big cause for worry IMO other than the fact that our starting CB is not good enough.

Is a possible answer putting Cameron at center?

AFAIK it's been a long time since he played there at all. I can't imagine slotting him in there against our group.

Are there no other good American centerbacks in MLS?

Has parkhurst been playing there for the Crew? I know it's a stretch but we're really grasping at straws here.

Mexico put two up top in the second half and the CBs and lone DM had some trouble with that. They also pushed up their outside backs to become more of a true 3-5-2 instead of a 5-3-1-1. They definitley pushed for it on offense.

In a true game, we wouldn't have come out in a diamond to start the second half up 2.

I'm not certain Goodson shouldn't be one of our CBs this World Cup, especially if Cameron is our best RB.
