I'm looking to get a wireless temperature probe for this coming weekend (doing pulled pork), but I wanted to get the boards opinion on a couple probes. What would you all recommend The maverick ET-733 or the Ivation dual probe? The Ivation is reviewed a little better on amazon, but I know several people on here are partial to the mavericks.

My Maverick works great and has for quite some time. All I can say.

The maverick 732 was insanely cheap on amazon last week

Like 35 bucks or something

Call me crazy but the Ivation looks like a relabeled Maverick ET 732. FWIW I have the Maverick and have been pleased. Though I wouldn't recommend forgetting it in the rain like I did

definitely

the ivation is the #1 seller on amazon though, which is odd because i've heard the maverick mentioned a hundred times, and never heard of the ivation before this thread

- this week when I was looking is the first time I've seen it. The 733 is $10 more than the Ivation, but has a larger screen and appears to be the newest model.

Well damn. I was hoping to get a clearly favored model on here so I could go ahead and order. Guess I'll research more on my lunch break

Most on here will recommend the maverick. It's the one I bought and I'll also recommend. I dropped mine in the water and the probes stopped working. That was my dumbass fault. Other than that it's been flawless.

It looks to me like you are going to get the exact same base unit and probes no matter which model you choose. The only difference is having some preset temperatures and a larger display on the ET733. If that is worth your $10 go for it. If not get the Ivation or ET732 as they are the same unit.

For only 10 bucks, I'd definitely get the 733 unless I found a good deal on the others

anyone here have any experience with the "IGrill" wireless thermometer? looks cool, connects to IPhone or Ipad. Has an app with coking guides etc... But reviews seem mixed. much like reviews for maverick and ivation.

It's reviewed lower than the mavericks or the Ivation on amazon, and they list it as being discontinued.

I have the Maverick and I love it. So I'm recommending that. Can't recommend the other one. And I've never seen anyone on here use or mention it.

So yes, there is a clear favorite on this board between the 2. It's the Maverick

Poor range, especially if your pit is located any distance away from the house and there are any obstructions, like walls!

Also, battery life will not make it through the night.

ETA: good points:
It's cool to monitor your pit with your smart phone or tablet.

I have since moved on to Guru BBQ devices. There are three different models to choose from simple one pit probe control to wireless control!

No idea. Never looked. amazon prime gets it to you in two days.

I may have seen it at Goodwood Hardware. I could be wrong. Give them a call, might be one of your better bets.

- from doing a little reading, the Ivation is a rebranded maverick. So they should be exactly the same.
