Any dog trainers out there that have experience with this? I have a 9 month old black lab that has been at the trainer for 5 months. I will be getting him in September and will need to purchase a collar of my own. Looking at the tri-tronics G3- seems to be a popular choice. Also, a Garmin delta sport trainer. Any suggestions would be great.

TriTronics, SportDog, and Dogtra are the big three. Anything from either of those companies will be a good product. Used them all and never had issues. The G3 is a badass collar.

Never used the Delta Sport.

I had a dog I forced trained with an ear pinch and never had to use a shock collar, and NEVER would. That's just me though.

5 mos

it only takes 2 beers a day

the amount of time it takes you to drink 2 beers you can train your dog.

the thing about electronic collars,(especially tri-tronics), they are outdated within a year it seems and then you gotta ship them off to someone for them to fix for $$$

while i couldn't do without mine, they are a reall pain in the arse/wallet

I have never had to ship my Dogtas off, I have 2, 2 dog units and the only think I have had to do is replaced the batteries every 2-3 years.

Yeah I've never had to ship a collar off. What do you mean by outdated? I guess it would be different if I were using tracking collars but I just want to be able to push a button and have the collar work. They've done that for years haha.

I've been using the same set of tritronics on my beagles for 5-6 years never had any problems and they were not outdated in a year. I remember buying a new collar several years after I bought the set. Not sure what you're talking about.

I have the garmin but haven't hit her with it yet. There's a couple of things she does that bother me but at 7-8 months I can't see popping her just yet. I think one of the issues has been solved by the electric fence I put in back yard around garden. She used to get dummy and run thru garden before returning, she takes a straight line to me now. And she didn't have collar on either so she still doesn't know what it does.

Look at the warrantee and reviews on customer service and then go buy the Tritronics. I have had mine for 10 years and have never needed to send it back and I do not feel it is outdated.
