Skip Bertman has to be rolling over

in his grave that is not even yet occupied.
All that man has done for the game of college baseball has been completely ruined.
Why was anyone surprised when Nola didn't receive pre-season All-American honors? Every pitcher he faces is he equal!
My interest in college baseball has officially taken a back seat to a dozen different activities, which will include all things off season football. This is not a knee jerk reaction from today's game, but more of a culmination of events.
I've always considered a good ole fashioned pitchers duel to be a thing of beauty- something to be appreciated. I wish I had a dollar for every time I told someone baseball is boring for people with boring minds.
But, the current state of college baseball is setting it back to the early 1900's of the game. Granted, LSU is building it's roster on middle infield talent w speed. The kind of hitters that hit .220 for the year and win national championships like UCLA. It's hard to blame Maneiri for recruiting small ball kids.
Today, if the wind isn't blowing out to left, nobody scores until maybe the 25th inning. I love the game of baseball and it's perfect in its symmetry. The NCAA has placed the game squarely into a state of FUBAR.

I stopped reading after that.

Skip Bertman helped make the game what it is today. Blame him for the current bats.

You sir are an idiot that probably tossed in his 2 cents after watching one game. Kindly shut the hell up and go critique tiddly winks.

Agreed. My reaction had nothing to do with LSU's record or perceived ability to win the CWS. The game is broken and it's getting really boring. I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I used to.

My comment is a reflection of the state of the game.
Obviously Nola is a first round talent. Sorry you have difficulty with sarcasm.

Last year was fun minus the last 2 games.

Of course the bats were hot, but the over-correction has done more damage than the previous, IMO.

If I wanted to watch women's softball........

quote:This is me, too. Our 2 and BBQ deflated my excitement for college baseball. I find myself getting madder at losing in hoops than in baseball whereas it's typically the opposite for me. And while I usually make an effort to watch every single game, I have not watched a game since before SEC play nor have I been to the Box yet this season which is extremely weird for me.

And like you said, this is not a knee jerk reaction. I found myself becoming less than interested even before the season began. This hitting slump sure isn't helping. Hopefully a fire gets lit under our arse soon.

Sounds like you're a frontrunner.

Yeah it's the bats. Uh huh. Meanwhile down in Lafayette they're scoring 10 runs a game.
LSU just isn't very good at that part of the game which scores runs. That's on the players, the strategy and the coaching.

Bertman would get this team in the locker room and call them a bunch of no talent pussy losers and turn them around

Well for me, it's not so much directly related to LSU baseball as it is college baseball. Of course what we directly or indirectly observe with our team certainly drives the point home. But, across the board, the numbers will bear out that they have fundamentally changed the game.
I listened nightly to Milo Hamilton from the age of 7 in a '73 Ford truck b/c it was the only radio I could get KLVI out of Beaumont to hear the Astros. I never missed a home game at LSU in 4 years there. I spend parts of each day in a batting cage in my backyard or at a ballpark from November-August.
I'm not driving to Baton Rouge for a college baseball game, and I have access to tickets on the dugout. It is what it is. Way too much local high school ball that is more entertaining.

On the subject of ULL, I considered catching the second game today, but I'll be at the ballpark all day tmrw.
There are theories on their surprising success with the bats despite everyone else's struggles, but the truth is in the pudding I'm sure. I'm a fan of baseball and LA and wish them well outside of their games vs LSU.
I don't doubt they can play LSU to a 1-1 tie with Nola on the mound. And I'm sure a HBP, error, and a balk might determine the winner in the end.
Do you reAlly think the Ragin Cajuns could take their game to Omaha and fare better At that ballpark? No way for you to think their success will translate.
Maybe you're right, but recent results say that errors and SACs will play a much larger role in determining the next NC.

its called putting hits together instead of swinging for the fing fence everytime kids. 1,2, 7,8 & 9 hitters aren't supposed to be able to hit homers consistently, which is what is wanted. I call bullshite. Leave it like it is, let REAL talent, coaching and strategy win the game for the team. BOOM!

Nobody is forcing you to be a fan of tiger baseball. If you don't like it, then stop watching the games. You sound like other people who bitch when LSU doesn't have a perfect season. If we lose this series to Florida, I bet my arse that you will start a thread about canning the coach. Again, if you don't like what you see, then jump off the bandwagon and go pull for a winning team.
