Need to get my dogs to stop barking and jumping on everything that comes up to the gate or around the backyard.

Any advice would be great!

And yes I have exhausted every natural resource trying to get them to stop, just don't know what to do anymore.

Borrow one from a buddy. I tried one on my dog, and he just ended up pissing everywhere. Dont want to have a useless shock collar sitting around because yor dog cant tolerate it. A firm hand fixed his problems

I just bought a shock collar for mine today to stop him from chasing cars. I got him one time this evening. He was sure what it was but he didn't want anymore of it. I am sure there will be more training sessions in his future since he is so damn hard headed.

Yes. I am a big believer in negative reinforcement because it works so well.

I got a sporting dog or something like that. 140 bucks and no complaints. Had it about a year. Can buy it at academy. If you're not a serious trainer, you don't need $400 collar. You can run multiple collars off the remote I have.

Shock collars are magic. You just can't get over zealous with them.

Tritronics are what I use. Just remember a little goes a long way. I also suggest getting one that can toggle between beeping and shocking. After a while the beep alone will stop them dead in their tracks.

This more than anything. I now have to use mine as an electronic leash. She knows to act good once she gets corrected once. Problem is she doesn't want to leave my side. She just heels. No matter what I'm telling her to do. If she runs through a whistle and I hit her with it, she doesn't listen to any commands, she just runs to my left side I need to send her to someone to see if they can collar train her at this point. I admit to messing that up by not knowing how to do it.

ETA: I only beep now because of this. Beeping works. Just reminds her the collar's on.

I would say the best training collars are the Garmin Alpha which are training collars as well as gps tracking collars. I have one for each of my beagles. You should just borrow one from a friend if possible.

If the dog is jumping on people that's easy to cure.

Next time she tries to jump up knee her in the chest.

We paid $230 for a dogtra 1900 NCP field star half mile, single dog e-collar. It has a plug to make it waterproof and isn't as prone to malfunction (shocking without button pressing or failing to give a shock when pressed) as other models. It is the only one our dog trainer recommends.

I have tri tronics, but that is probably more collar than you need for this situation.

A 60 dollar electric fence kit from Lowe's would be another option

You need electricity. Nothing is more effective than being able to put your foot in your dog's arse from 50 yards away.

There are some pretty cheap shock collars out there for basic training and they work well. Main thing is that you know how to use it. There are plenty of books out there.
