Capitalism is a horrible economic system.... but all the others are worse.

So I feel about capitalism like Churchill felt about democracy.

I think its a great economic system. It rewards people who supply things that society wants and needs and does it more efficiently than any system ever devised by man.

In fact, it's one of the most moral systems on Earth. It rewards work ethic, the non-aggression principle, efficiency and helping your fellow man.

What does that have to do with some idiot saying that capitalism is the most moral economic system on earth? And if you don't believe that capitalism produces massive inequality, unbridled greed, corporatism, war, waste, and pollution, then you're an idiot too.

You really shouldn't confuse capitalism with crony capitalism.

When you have a gov't as large and powerful as the USA does, the incentive to lobby congress to pass laws slanting whatever situation arises in your favor is so incredibly ripe. Make gov't as small as possible and crony capitalism goes away.

massive inequality

There are lots of things that will never be equal.

quote:

greed

Greed is one of the biggest driving forces of innovation there is out there. It's good for the world.

quote:

corporatism, war, waste, pollution...

Like I said, these are all symptoms of crony capitalism and a problem of gov't it refuses to solve simply by getting the frick out of the way.

Greed is a pejorative by definition. I don't think it should be called a good thing. Although I am greedy for some things, catching fish, eating peanut butter, etc...

But it exists in man whether or not it is in a capitalist, or "distributist" system (beer distributors?) whatever the hell that is? As greed exists in man, so does "inequality." And it always will. "Equality" cannot be socially engineered.

The only desirable form of government, which can be enforced by a system of laws created by man is Individual Freedom that allows one to pursue their own life and make of it what they will. People who think it is their place in life to try and impose their ideas about "equality" on society and by extension other of their fellow citizens, individuals, by force, really only muck up other people's ability to live freely. And it is that driving need to impose their will on others that is so alarming and myopic.

Utopia is not possible. Also by definition.

Just to be clear: I was completely being sarcastic.

What we have today is not capitalism. We need to fix that by reducing government burden and distortion in the system.

I just asked a simple question. Geeez.

Capitalism doesn't produce inequality - inequality exists regardless of the economic system - its just a fact of life.

Is your issue really with capitalism or is it with misbehaving participants in capitalism? There is a big difference.
