Looking for a place to grab a couple drinks this afternoon/evening. Anything from beer bars to cocktails for a couple, late 20's. Preferably in the heights area, but open to anywhere from the galleria to downtown.

It's Mongoose vs Cobra

Good place though. I really enjoy Leon's across the street.

Not Wolfies.... Unless you like an under average beer selection and sluts with excessive eye make up....see FBD thread if you have any questions on what not to do.

Since you already decided on Hay Merchant, you can also walk down to Anvil for some cocktails. It's the sister bar of Hay Merchant and has some pretty kick arse cocktails.

Later, if it's not raining and you're looking for some greasy drunk food...Drive 3-5 minutes over to West Alabama Ice House and gets some tacos from Tacos Tierra Caliente. My all-time favorite drunk food.

I knew I wasn't correct but I was close. I just didn't feel like looking it up.

Play some sand volleyball as well

If you are going to hay merchant, Royal Oak is a fun place to go for a drink after nearby.

Anvil is a really good cocktail bar. Those bartenders there are something else -- we were there on a Friday night, the place was packed and they were just cranking out craft cocktails. Like they were pumping them out in the time it takes a lot of bartenders to get you a beer or a bourbon and Coke.

I just moved to the northeast Houston area, near the lake, and need to make it downtown. We were thinking about getting a room down there after my brothers wedding.
