Is this still available as an off the menu item?
I haven't heard of one in 20+ years. It's a Big Mac, but with double fish and tarter sauce instead of meat and special sauce. Still served with cheese, lettuce, and pickle.
Edit****
YA Tittle remembered the name, it was called the Grand Mariner

You are correct. It must have been called something else.

From Wiki:
McDonald's removed the Filet-O-Fish from its menus in the United States on September 26, 1996,[8] and replaced with the Fish Filet Deluxe sandwich, which was part of McDonald's ill-fated Deluxe line of sandwiches. However, the Filet-O-Fish was brought back to its menus on March 22, 1998 due to overwhelming letters and petitions, receiving the larger fish patty from the Fish Filet Deluxe.
The Fish Filet Deluxe replaced the Filet-O-Fish sandwich and had tartar sauce, American cheese and lettuce. The fish patty was 50% larger than the original fish fillet used in the Filet-O-Fish. After the Fish Filet Deluxe was dropped, the larger fish patty was used in the current Filet-O-Fish.
Annnnnnnnd I've learned more than I ever care to know abou the damn Filet o Fish. Good luck with to you.

Why would you name a fish sandwich after a mammal? I guess a whaler isn't really named after a whale, it's named after the person who hunts whales, or the ships used to hunt whales. Which makes less sense. Now I'm confused. But also hungry for a fish sandwich.

The best fast food fish is the deep sea double from rallys/checkers IMO

According to the new BK commercials it is on the regular menu for the five for two deal.

Few points here:
-This may be the strangest bump ever. And it's exactly 1 year to the date later.

quote:-It's probably named after the fish sandwich called the Whaler. Like the one you make with white bread and leftover fish presumably named because it was a meal made popular by whalers and fishermen. I love those kinds of whalers.

FWIW I just asked for a Grand Mariner at McDonalds and they had no clue what I was talking about. I described it to them and was told, "Yeah um we don't have that anymore"
