Is it time to end the home and home baseball series with Tulane

With RPI being so important wouldn't LSU be better off scheduling that home and home with ULL.

Why not schedule one with both?

Nahh. I love playing a game a year at Turchin Field. Tulane has just not been as good as of late. They will be back towards the top eventually

Why don't we just quit scheduling 4 games a year with SWAC schools?

Tulane is a good game usually

From a SWAC perspective, those games need to come off - it kills your RPI. I'm okay with the Ivy League series but LSU and ULL should be playing at least 3 times this year and Tulane will be better but Jones might be on the hot seat

Does anyone know if Tulane is pulling their traditional antic of making fans buy tickets to two other games if they want to buy a single game ticket for the LSU game?

replace one of those weekend series were we play two crappy schools and bring in a decent ACC school, some good west coast team, some good team from the Big 12 or something similar. LSU would greatly benefit from having a weekend series with a team like UCI, UCLA, Virginia, etc.

LSU would be better off not playing the games. Tulane isn't the problem with our schedule, and I hate Tulane. There are many more gaping problems with our schedule.
Your point falls on deaf ears anyway as we will likely always play these shite SWAC, UNO, etc teams during the mid-week because we are a victim of our own geography.

so money > post season placement
note: what about CSF from a couple years ago we didn't go to their place to play them.

People always reference that CSF series as if that did something for us.
We swept them and still got left out of the postseason.
So, obviously
is a statement that is somewhat moot. That argument doesn't hold as much water as some think.
The short and the long of it is: take care of your shite in conference, and you will be rewarded.

And what is this talk about bad postseason placement?
We've been a national seed the last 2 years playing similar schedules.

I agree, get rid of the swac teams. We should be able to get teams like houston, southern miss, ucf to come here for weekend series and play teams like ull, tulane, southeastern, and uno non conference

Definitely agree with this. Get some stronger C-USA and American teams to come play at the box

Win 20 games in the SEC and it probably won't matter nearly as much who you play during the week - unless you lose a bunch of those games.
All LSU needs to do is schedule some of the northern or upper midwest teams who are looking to come down south early in the year. They most likely won't require a return trip since by the time the weather is better they're about ready for their conference play to start. And they're usually some decent teams who will help RPI - or at least not hurt it.
By the way some poster during yesterday's game thread said Rick Jones is resigning? Anyone else hear anything? Don't know if it's related but I do know that a few weeks ago their was a nasty accident on Claiborne Ave across from the Tulane Baseball stadium and I'm almost certain Rick Jones was at the scene on his cell phone. Not sure if him or someone in his family was involved but he definitely looked stressed. Definitely a shame if he leaves Tulane because he's a good baseball coach and Tulane would be hard pressed to replace him.

NO its not.
But they should have a home and home w ULL too and get rid of some of the smaller schools.
