Seems like EG would be much better in a role where he plays 20-25 mins a game as instant offense off the bench.

This probably would also help with his fragile knees.

Or we could trade him.

Ive been thinking this for a while now. And with the way Tyreke has been playing lately it seems like an obvious no brainer. However, it is probably not obvious for Mr. Williams.

Holiday, Evans, New 3, Davis, New 5.

Jackson, Rivers, Gordon, Anderson, to provide scoring off the bench sounds formidable to me.

Keep Aminu and Withey as Backups too. Maybe Anjica still has a role?

Of course this is all pointless if there is someone out there that will take Gordon in a trade.

I wonder if his value is more as a player, even in a reserved role from what we can get from him on the market. I guess that's a judgement call based on what we can get for him and what we could do with the saved money.

I just don't know if anyone would take him on his contract given his play and injury history.

Lets switch where Reke plays the 2 and EG isn't on the team anymore.

Why can't they both play starter minutes?

It appears Tyreke has played with two other guards on the court most times anyways.

I know that would be an idea we fans could support, the problem would be that Eric Gordon wouldn't support this.

Tyreke is clearly better than Gordon and intended to be a long term piece, so if switching roles with Gordon is better for the team you do it. I really don't think Gordon's trade value will be changed much by not starting. At this point it's pretty obvious who his comparables are, he's getting paid twice as much as all of them, and the team that takes him will do so because they are desperate for that kind of talent, not because they got tricked into thinking he's better than he is because he's a "starter".

If there's any chance at all you can move EG for expirings or a draft pick, or hell even another bad contract of similar length that will bring back a player who fits slightly better, you've gotta do it.

I don't think there's a chance he gets moved, so I'm preparing myself to have him for the duration of his contract or to flip him as an expiring in his final year.

I think coming off the bench would do him a lot of good, personally. It's obvious that Reke needs to start, so whatever we have to do to make that happen.

I think this would make a lot of sense. The salary for a backup SG would be even more absurd than it is for him as a starter, but that doesn't really matter.

It would be better for his health, and I think better for his game. Who knows? He may not pout as much as people think if he still gets minutes.

I wouldn't mind Gordon coming off of the bench, but I think he will continue to start until we find a SF who can play on both sides of the ball. If we start next season with a healthy version of the current roster, I want to see him start alongside Jrue and Evans. Despite his reputation for being ball dominant I think he has played increasingly well off ball this season. Improving his 3P% has given him more rounded skill set.

If we upgrade at SF this summer, he'll probably be kicked from the starting lineup. Evans is obviously better as a starter than a bench player, and there wouldn't be room in the starting lineup for him. He would be a good option off of the bench.

There is a lot of money chasing very few quality players. That's my only hope.

Assuming our roster stays relatively in tact for next season, he will still be on the floor at the end of the game along with JH, Reke, AD, and Ryno.

Just seems like he is the ideal fit for the role Reke started the year in. EG can score off the dribble and from behind the arc unlike Reke plus has injury concerns so reduced mins would be optimum to maintain his health thru the season.

id be up for it

the salary EG has makes me think it wont happen but i like the idea

but then imo we would have to have Ryno start to space; although if we signed a 3 and D guy to start next to Jrue & Reke then we can allow Ryno to play with the EG in the 2nd unit

overall i like it

Yea I agree. It makes sense. But EG has a max deal contract. Max deal player moved to coming off the bench. Plus, EG is a temperamental player and has an ego. If he isnt happy with his role, he goes back to being the EG that doesnt play hard, upset and bitchy and it brings the whole team down.

But it makes sense and Im down for it... not sure if EG would be though. But best case scenario for us would be to trade EG.

i was talking to my friends at lunch today about this, i think it would be good idea. he is a streaky scorer, and he could excel off the bench
